You can't directly get an answer from a doctor... but this site saved my teachers fathers life.

Don't do the online thing. I can guarantee you that it won't work if your boss checks it out. The excuse would have to have your doctor's phone number on it and he could call! If it didn't, then he would not accept it if he has half a brain. Just call your doctor, explain the situation, and ask them for an excuse. Very few doctors would not write you one up once you explain to them that the kid had a virus and that is why you didn't bring them in. You'll be being honest, teaching your kid to be honest, and will not be subject to reprisal for getting caught. There is nothing to be caught for.
