I live in Florida (fort lauderdale)...i just moved here and cant find a doctor to treat my pain...HELP?We Answered:
This is the website of the American Academy of Pain Management. They have a search function that will help you find acreditted pain docs and pain management programs in your area. Otherwise, if you had a pain doc in the previous place you lived, you might try calling him and asking for a referral or at least a suggestion. Good luck.http://www.aapainmanage.org/info/Patient…

Is my paper good, any suggestions on changing anything? We Answered:
OK, I have two different answers for you. First AnswerThe essay is good because it is something that you care about and where you have personal experience, and you tell the story "through your eyes". In addition, you back up your claims with statistics, although you need to say precisely where they came from (Weekly Public Arrest newspaper for which week???) Also, you conclude with a recommended action to address the problem you described. (There is a problem with it, though, in that you should indicate how the legitimate needs of people for pain management will be addressed).
Second Answer
I am sorry, but the English spelling and grammar are not very good. For example, you repeatedly miss-spell epidemic. In addition, you have several run-on sentences and some sentence fragments. Try reading the paragraph out loud to yourself and see if it "sounds" right, and use a spell-checked if you have one. These English problems detract quite a bit from what could be a fine essay - it has good material but needs equally good English to go along with it.
If you would like more help, try correcting it on your own and then email the result to me and I will make some additional suggestions. (reggie_six@yahoo.com)

I 'm visiting NY & on Kadian can a PrimeCare doc. in NY or PA precribe Kadian? Or do I have to see pain doc.?We Answered:
Why don't you have your medication with you? If you are visiting another state and need your meds, I would go to an ER or Urgent Care and give them your pain doctor's phone number. They can call your doc and consult him. But again, I am skeptical as to why you don't have youor meds or enough of your meds with you on this "visit" to make it through until you get home. If you were going to run out whil you were out of town, you should have addressed this with your doc at your last appointment before you left. If they got stolen, file a police report. If you've taken too many, then that's something you unfortunately brought upon yourself. Anyway, as I said, my advice is to go to an ER (this would be preferrable) or an Urgent Care, explain why you don't have your meds, and give them your doc's number. Even if he is not there there will be someone on-call to speak with and they can consult them and find out what to do. I just can't imagine why you would be out of town without your meds if you are a chropnic pain patient. Being once myself, i can tell you I have both a key fob and a small extra bottle with the prescription sticker on it that I put a small amount of my long-acting med and breaklthrough med in and keep them with me EVERYWHERE, particularly the breakthrough med. It doesn't make sense to me that someone with chronic pain would not do the same-- keep a small amount with proof of them being prescribed to the patient-- on them at all times.EDIT: Did you miss the part where I am a chronic pain patient myself? I know exactly what the drill is with pain clinics, because I deal with chronic pain every day of my life. I know exactly what Kadian is because I turned it down because I don't want to be on Morphine... not because anything is wrong with it, but just because I don't want to take it. There is actually a new law that a doc can write 3 month supplies of Schedule II medications by writing 3 seperate scripts: one dated that day, one dated a month later, and one dated two months later. My point is, you know you were going to be gone for this amount of time. You should have spoken to your doctor about this trip, the length of it, and what to do BEFORE you left.... then he could have given you a referral and a letter and you wouldn't be scrambling now. You are responsible for having enough of your medication when you know you are going to be gone, especially for a long period of time. You should have discussed this with your doctor and made a plan instead of scrambling now. As a chronic pain patient, it boggles my mind that this was not something you felt was important enough to take care of BEFORE leaving!
