There are many like it, but they are all worthless. Don't worry about your speciality til you are in your 2nd or 3rd year of medical school. YOu have to experience something like this to know that it is right for you.

I suppose it shows what kind of people they are turning us into, because if we didn't keep watching, the shows wouldn't still be on!
Oprah is, in my opinion, trying to do the right thing...sometimes, but I think she's on a major ego trip in making "stars" out of doctors that could be doing people much more good in the "office" than on TV, saying a bunch of crap that will make sure we keep watching for more drama that keeps us tuned in.
I think there are way too many experts on tv like you said but I do believe they try to help in most cases, but then again like I said above, they need people to keep watching the shows, so they add drama and crazy stories to keep you coming back, just like Jerry Springer did. He actually started out trying to help people, and it quickly turned into some wild, half naked, crazy hillbilly hi jinks to keep you coming back for more...and we do! Now I'm waiting for Dr Phil to have one of his famous marriage counseling shows turn into a brawling fist fight between lovers LOL!!
