Amber Said:

how can you avoid being evicted in new york city?

We Answered:

File in landlord tenant court immediately. Bring documentation from your Physician, and evidence of how long you've resided there. You have enough to prove mitigating circumstances. That should buy you some time.

Dr. Sherrell Aston is supposed to be good, and Sam Rizk is a Manhattan plastic-surgeon celebrity =]

Be warned, though - I've heard some not-go-great things about Dr. Constantinides.

Experience with scoliosis surgery? Or Hospital For Special Surgery in New York?

We Answered:

Hello,
Yes i went through it at 14 and the thought is worse than the actual surgery i promise you,i remember being told i needed the surgery i felt like the bottom had fallen from my world, but then i was glad that it was possible to treat, yes i was a bit scared as i am the sort of person who hates the dentist and injections,i too have two curves one top one at the bottom,

but surprisingly i didn't panic on surgery day i was quite calm, and anyway they give you a sedative before the anaesthetic so it makes you drowsy and calm, then they took me on a trolley to theatre, you have the option of having someone with you such as your parents, but i decided to go alone,

then i was offered to be put to sleep by injection or by a mask over my face,of course i chose the latter! then that was it it just felt like blinking then i was awake and it was all over and done with,i felt no pain on waking that's because the anaesthetic works by numbing the spinal cord,so stops pains signals,

but when it wore off yes there was pain i say its a 8 out of 10 at its worst which isn't bad at all,not only that they give pain relief quickly to you,and the drug works fast i was given an injection in my back but felt nothing at all, that's the truth i would say if it did, as i don't believe in sugar coating the answers about spinal surgery,

i had drains in my wound to drain away any blood, and had 70 staples to close the wound it sounds bad but honestly it was fine, the scar fades with time to a silver line,i have a harrington rod aswell, that shows as a bump under the skin at the top of my scar,

but i know your worried about needles and stuff i was too,but they were gentle with me and after having one blood test i was wondering why i worried so much after all, plus you will meet others having it done the same time as you,i did and made friends we all calmed each other down a lot,i had it done in a special hospital who dealt with scoliosis but in the UK,

another thing i should mention is spinal surgery makes your periods start a few days after even if not due,but i was told it is normal and not to worry plus it messed the pattern up a bit it took a year for them to settle back in to a normal regular pattern, sorry if i go on but i am trying to help calm you and let you know what its going to be like,

oh and another thing you will be taller which is an added bonus! i gained 5 inches in height, and i am now an adult and am doing fine despite having been through i,oh and my needle phobia was cured i no longer fear them! here is a link for scoliosis support its a site to ask answer and chat to others who have scoliosis, not sure if i have been of any help.

What three things do you guys think make a top student? (I want your opinions)?

We Answered:

1. I disagree with the above answerer because in most cases, the culture down south and up north is distinctly different. When I made a 1940 on the SAT the second time I took it (now its higher) everyone in my class viewed me as a good test taker who has it all made and that type of score is rare, AND I attend a top three high school in my state. Up North, a 1940 would be a typical score. Having lived up North and currently residing down south, I can tell you that up North the students do have higher goals and in general care HEAVILY about their grades. Down south, in my school most students are satisfied with a B or a passing grade, up north in general most students want to get A's. Now the mentality changes since the south can range from Virginia (a smart state) to Mississippi (a state which is not exceptionally bright). A good student will push himself in the toughest conditions but tell me this, if people around you are telling you to take it easy and not worry about grades too much and to be satisfied with a B or C, will you really want to push yourself? Same happened with me, luckily my parents knocked me back into reality. Neighborhood plays a role as well but mostly its family and the type of people you are around, generally up North people do take education seriously, more so than the south. MY parents told me that had they stayed up north, I would have probably been a valedictorian going to Harvard or Princeton. A stable environment and stable life is MANDATORY.

2. Yes, if you hang around students who cause trouble, don't study, start drama and waste time on myspace then some of that will rub off on you and as a result you won't do good in school. If you hang around drug dealers, chances are you are going to want to be like them, if you hang around students who want to get to the top schools, you will want to match them in that regard as well. From personal experience, I started to hang with students who were criminals and would disrespect authority (like cuss their parents out), those were the only type of students who I could find to hang out with because there was no one else, everyone else was violent and quick to start fights. Some of that behavior rubbed off on me and stayed on me for the first two years of school, I did not know people could be that way because I was a kid raised in the North where people were generally friendly or would mind their own business.

3. Definitely, ONCE again I disagree with the above answerer. So wait, you should not push yourself at all then? Oh so I should not care to get an A on a test or a 2100 on the SAT since I my goal is to go to a community college anyways huh? All of the top students want to attend a top university, why else will they push themselves? They want to be something in life that's why! If I did not have the aspiration or goal of attending Yale then my SAT score would have stayed at a 1470, instead I have a 2190 now (1500+ on math and reading). I have a 3.5 GPA instead of a 2.9 because I wanted to go to Yale and I knew that to go there, I needed the grades and guess what? I may not have the 3.8 GPA but at least that aspiration made me push my GPA up to a 3.5!
That is the main key.
