Where There Is No Doctor

Josephine Said:

How do I find where my Doctor went?

We Answered:

Ask at his old office where he went. Or you could look him up online and pay to find his new address. good luck , hope this helps.

Christine Said:

Will there ever come a time where doctors would be able to make newborn human babies amphibious?

We Answered:

not unless we figure out a way to evolve or genetically modify the human species so that it can filter out the dissolved oxygen in water and be able to process atmospheric oxygen (ie, have both lungs and gills)

Evelyn Said:

What's that movie where a doctor lady allows a guy to live in a room in her house, and he then traps her?

We Answered:

I saw a movie like that called "Deadbolt" with Justine Bateman.

Ray Said:

Has there ever been an incident where following Dr's advice really was for the best ?

We Answered:

How about "you should stop taking the Pill one month a year to clean out your system, but don't worry, you'll still be protected from pregnancy". Sure enough, I got pregnant.

Where do Doctors change clothes in a hospital?

We Answered:

Well, not an authoritative answer. But I asked a friend’s wife who is a surgeon (late 30s, and hot looking for sure). She said that there was one shared area for changing. The Doctors removed outerwear (Blue jeans, sweat shirts, etc), and put on appropriate surgical scrubs. A lot of hospitals were cold, so the staff would wear long underwear and T-shirts underneath. There were single-sex locker rooms where they could change, but that was not always convenient. They also often changed in the on-call rooms.

How “modest” one could be depends on where he/she was prior to entering the changing room. At first, she tried to dress appropriately for undressing. Then, she had to change from a sweatshirt to scrubs. She had no bra underneath, and there were male surgeons present. No time to go anywhere else to change. After that, she was OK with it. But she has never been naked or seen any doctor naked (sometimes wearing a only a towel, but never naked). She also says there was no sex going on.

Just to update, I asked my friend's wife again, and she said there were always separate rooms available. But, her first few years after medical school not always the opportunity to take the time to use them. And she never saw anyone naked (woman topless from time to time, but never naked). They were always wearing underwear. If she had taken the time to go elsewhere and change, she might have lost the opportunity to observe whatever procedure she needed to observe from the beginning.

Now that her schedule is more established, no more coed changing rooms.

Kelly Said:

Is there ever a point where the doctor's suggested weight seems wrong?

We Answered:

BMI doesn't take body fat percent and muscle into account, so for people like that guy, it doesn't apply. If you are looking to gain a lot of muscle, you'd be better off using some kind of body fat percent measurements such as skinfold measurements, BIA, or the Bod Pod. If you are looking to be of average build, BMI is an acceptable indicator of health.

Also, by the Hamwi formula, which is a formula registered dietitians use to calculate "ideal" weight, you should be about 202 pounds (for males: 106 pounds for the first 5 feet + 6 pounds for every additional inch). The "ideal" range is +/- 10% of that, so between 182 and 222 pounds for you. 185 is healthy, but definitely on the low end of your healthy weight range.
