I dont live in Canada, but in the US where we are currently having this same debate. I cant help but feel many of the reasons over here are the same reasons you are experiencing. You obviously did your research and yes, cannibus DOES have good medical benefits. But in the US money talks and I bet you didnt know there are OTHER by products of cannibus that is also a big part of this problem. For example, clothing material made from hemp or cannibus is cheaper to grow, more durable and basically a good by product. BUt the cotton industry doesnt want it legal as it would give them a real big opponent for clothing. So, they lobby against it. Purely financial. And did you know that the seeds of the cannibus plant, if made into a cooking oil, is actually better for you? So that industry doesnt want cannibus legal as it too would have a real problem as people would use a heathier variety of cooking oil instead of the ones out now. Back in the day, Hearst publishing, who owned a tree farm used to make paper, lobbyied big time against hemp as it would be cheaper to make paper out of then the trees Hearst had. And Hearst Publishing is a big major corporation with much lobbying power. Again, purely financial.

So I guess Canada is not unlike the US in that money talks. They could care less about what benefits the people, only what they stand to make on the product. Greed, the almighty ruler.
