Most of hte time, each policy has a clause in it about sharing coverage with two or more policies. Unless one of the coverages is medicare, usually they pay on a "pro rata" basis, so you still end up with your copays and coinsurance.

Which menas, there's no benefit from having two plans in place.

No one here can look it up, unless they are with your employer. Your EMPLOYER gets to pick which options each of those plans offer for employees.

You need to compare COVERAGES, and DEDUCTIBLES, and run the numbers - you'd have to add your annual premium savings and deductibles together, to see which one works out best for YOU.

Your wife's plan is primary for her, and your plan is secondary. YOU don't get to choose how they each pay out, though - they will coordinate benefits themselves, which can lead to a lot of headaches.

When Cigna covers 80%, with you having a 20% copay, it's 20% of the TOTAL, not 20% of the DEDUCTIBLE. So that still leaves you paying $2,000 out of pocket.

When the baby arrives, which policy is primary depends on the birthdate of the baby.

You can be added to her insurance plan, during her company's open enrollment - and you can cancel your coverage during YOUR company's open enrollment.

Your employer changing plans is NOT a qualifying event.

Also send a letter of cancellation by certified, return receipt requested through the mail Keep a copy of the letter and the receipt in a safe secure place. This way if they attempt to sue you for payment you have your proof

Yes, that's exactly how it works. The primary insurance will pick up the major expense.(Aetna) Then your insurance, Signa, should pick up the rest. Leaving you and your wife with hardly anything to pay after all is done. So, when going to pre-register at the hospital, bring both insurance cards with you and submit them at that time.
