Amerigroup Health Insurance

Leroy Said:

will my health insurance cover bracesss ?

We Answered:

Sweetie, you gotta ask your parents this question!! They are the ones who are paying for whatever insurance your family has.

And no, sweetheart, the insurance is not "free". Your parents are paying for you to be covered. It's probably more money than you think...probably several hundred dollars a month.

I get the feeling you are asking because you said "all my top teeth are perfect", and your parents have told you you don't need braces. If indeed you have perfect top teeth, you really must begin to COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS. Because your parents may be right. That's tough to hear at 14, but possibly true.

Even if your parents have dental insurance, the cost would only be cut in half. Since the average cost of braces is about $5,000 without insurance, even with insurance, the cost would be $2,500.

You must ask yourself - can my family afford an outlay of $2,500 to fix, what you confess, is just a "small gap" on the bottom of my teeth? If the answer is "no", then you'll need to accept the answer.

Part of growing up is learning to love ourselves, even with physical flaws. A "small gap" on your bottom teeth may seem monumental at age 14. At age 18 or 19, you may love it because it makes you unique. Look at Madonna and that big gap on her front row of teeth. I have read in magazines that she LOVES that tooth gap! She says it makes her unique, and indeed she is still considered one of the world's most alluring women.

I promise you - if the answer you've been given is "no braces" - if you'll focus on the good things in your life and be active, you will not fret as much about your teeth.

Best wishes dear, from a mom with a 14 year old.

does amerigroup health insurance cover braces ????? please help?

We Answered:

No it won't, because you aren't 21. I have the same problem, with a gap in my upper row of teeth, and i looked in the book they mail you and you need to be 21 for them to cover you. I'm 15.

Cory Said:

Has anybody heard any good or bad things about Amerigroup health insurance?

We Answered:

They are a good company but that's about all anyone here can say to help you.

They only have low income plans that work with Medicaid and are for Dual Eligibles. Aetna has both low income and regular plans. So without knowing which Aetna plan he has there is no way to help.

Also, plans will vary greatly between states and even between counties, which means one plan may be better for him in one state while the other plan may be better in another state. That being said, if the agent your father is working with is independent and representing all of the major companies then go ahead and listen to the agent. If the agent is only with Amerigroup you may want to find another agent that represents more options.

One thing you may not know. If he is on Medicaid he has the option to switch plans at any time. He doesn't have to wait until the Annual Enrollment Period to change.

Discuss It!
