Health Insurance in Australia?

We Answered:

Private Health Insurance does have its advantages. When my wife was pregnant it enabled us to choose which specialists to see and to have a private room at a private hospital. The hospital concerned also allowed husbands to stay with their wives. More recently I needed surgery, being privately insured I was able to be treated immediately. I think there is website that compares the pros and cons of what all health funds offer. As for Ambulance cover that is a definite must. I have had ambulance cover for over thirty years and only needed it once but knowing it is there gives me peace of mind. Those not covered can expect a bill of around $800-$1000AUD. I am assuming you are in Australia. Being covered in your respective state also gives you reciprocal cover in other states. You would need to check if your ambulance service is a state provided service as it is in my home state of Victoria or contracted to St. John.

Who has the best and affordable private health insurance in Australia and why?

We Answered:

It depends what you want
Top benefit cover
Intermediate benefit cover
Basic cover

Who it is to cover, single, couples, single parent, family. And if you want optional extras, such pregnancy and birth etc, and if you want to pay a excess fee or not.

I am Medibank private member, with just Blue ribbon extra's and no hospital cover.
