Let me clarify the situation with Medicaid. The states have had to cut back on Medicaid. More hard working poor (say, someone self employed like myself) are not being given Medicaid. I had Medicaid in Michigan and moved and was not approved in my new state ( many, many seriously ill people are in the same situation besides myself). I cannot afford health insurance and would not be considered by an insurance company because of 2 pre-existing conditions. As it is now, I have to pay for everything including very expensive medications and regular blood work which is ridiculously expensive too. Saying the poor get everything for free is just ignorant. Get your facts straight and let's work on cutting the cost of health care by limiting outrageous malpractice suits and regulating insurance companies.

No, I believe ER's should be allowed to refuse service. As it is now, ER's receive patients with flu symptoms, rashes, possible STD's, medication refills, possible pregnancies and a whole host of other non-emergent conditions simply because the KNOW they ER is legally required to see them, and yes, WE have to foot that bill.
Even if a $25 co-pay were implemented, it would put a dent in the frivolous use of ER's.
Having forced insurance, which the taxpayers will end up paying for, will not solve that problem, it will exacerbate it. Those same people will feel even MORE entitled to pop into their local ER for a toothache.

I will pay the low fine rather than pay the high insurance premiums.... Then when I get sick, I will go out and buy the best insurance policy you can find and rack up 100s of thousands of dollars and as soon as i'm all well again, I'll go back to a No answer.

It doesn't matter, because the insurance companies have already started raising rates in anticipation. Our group insurance went up 23% this Jan. Does anyone really think costs went up 23%? No, they're preparing for when cost-cutting measures will be law and they can't raise costs 23% in a year with 0% inflation.

The real question is what would you do if you were involved in a car crash now and didn't have any health insurance? People are injured and killed on the roads every day through no fault of their own (wrong-way driver killed 2 people yesterday in Atl.) Think ahead and decide how much risk you can bear, then purchase insurance or not. If you have enough money to cover potential medical expenses, you don't need it. If not, you do need it.

The problem I have with this is taxes. Where is the money going to come from, me the middle class. The middle class is what keep this country running. Besides, do you think this plan will really benefit all? Will this stop hospitals from closing their doors because illegals immigrants and American trash that go to the emergency room every time they have a cold and they never pay the bill resulting th the hospital having to eat the loss. Read up: 13 hospitals shut down in California as a direct result.

Furthermore, this type of heath coverage will result in lower pay for doctors which will go elsewhere for higher paying jobs. The quality will drop and then we will be like Canada who has waiting list for surgeries and people dying as a result. this is madness and we shouldn't elect Hillary or Obama as a direct result.
