Each state sets the requirements for child welfare health insurance. Some states cut children off when they are 18, most when they are 19, but ALL of them will cut off a child who is married - if you're old enough to be in a marriage, then you're too old for child welfare health insurance. It's your husband's responsibility to provide for you, not every OTHER working taxpayer in your state.

Yes. The marriage is an automatic disqualifier for child welfare health insurance. You'd have to apply for welfare health insurance through the medicaid program in your state, NOT the child health insurance program.

The only exception, would be if you are pregnant. If you are pregnant, most states will give the mother welfare health insurance, but limit it to ONLY things related to the pregnancy.

If you go to your local Income Support Division (often called the Fodd Stamp office) you should be able to get Mediciade. They would still look at your income and/or ability to get insurance for your child. If you arent able to afford then your baby should qualify. The aplication can be rather lengthy and there will be an interview where you are able to explain your situation. As another poster mentioned you may also qualify for cash assistance if he isnt paying child support. (TANF) Either way they will most likely have a stipulation that you cooperate with your states Child Support Division, which is governed by the states Attorney Genrals office, which is a good thing. They will try to track down your hubby and start making him pay some child support and possibly provide health coverage for the baby.
Best place to star maybe be typing "medicaid your state" (whatever your state is) into google and it should provide you with some links/info as far as where to go to apply for your area.

its really hard to get insurance with that kind of income coming in the household..all you can do is try to apply for child health plus, being that you arent married yet, you may quailify..but they will need to know how much income is coming in..is your fiance able to get insurance through work? sometimes the employer will accept non married couples on the plan..im sorry i dont have any other plans for you..ive had the same trouble in the past, and i only brought in 1200 a mth..and was denied..good luck..hope all goes well for you..

Honestly I dont know how much info you would be able to get with all these laws of privacy.. I couldnt even get advice from my own doctor over the phone, lol..
I really think its great you want to make sure your child has the best care but I think the only way to go about this is try to reason with the mother or call county assistance where your child gets the medical and tell them you are willing to pay for child care and your ex wont allow it.. I know they would rather you pay it then the state so im sure they would be willing to help. Good luck
