Dental Health For Kids

Ashley Said:

What health insurance is recommended for a single dad with 3 kids, with a budget but have decent coverage?

We Answered:

One through your employer. You can't get vision and dental that doesn't cost more than it pays, except through an employer group policy.

Otherwise, just go to your local agent, ask them to give you a couple quotes on a private policy.

Ricardo Said:

For health and dental insurance, are dependents only wife and kids?

We Answered:

Spouse & children are the main dependents. Siblings that are minors who you have custody at will receive the same benefits as a child. Parents who you have listed as a dependent do not get the same medical coverage, their's is slightly different. They can be seen at a Military hospital/clinic on a Space available basis only. To be seen by a civilian doctor they have a higher cost.

Louis Said:

Why are Dental and Vision Insurance separate from regular Health insurance?

We Answered:

Networks are different for vision and dental. Also insurance companies are highly regulated by the state, and they can only write certain types of insurance, so if they don't have license for dental or vision, you have to buy that fomr somewhere else. Like the prev poster said, people who REALLY need dental and vision are those who will use the hell out of it, so therefore it is more expensive. For check up, usually simple vision exam is free from your health insurance. Dental is separate but if you just want cleaning then pay out of your own pocket might be cheaper actually.

Vicki Said:

If anyone knows anyting about dental plans can you tell me what plan is the best out of these?

We Answered:

Are you in AZ or Cali?

Western dental is an hmo plan not insurance. so it is fee for service and you can only really use it at their clinics, plus western dental sucks they corporate goons dictate the treament not the doc.

acess Do you mean ahcccs? which is called access in AZ. Well this is an umbrealla system and not insurance itself under the umbrella you would need to pick one insurance company like care first.

There are only two insurances I recognize there and thats health net and care first.

Most of teh others sound like plans and western is an HMO.

Plans are fees for service deals and not insurance so be care ful with them bc they dont cover anythig bc you have to pay for everything, thats why their pitch sounds nice, no deductable limits down grades etc, bc they never pay out a dime like an isurance plan.

The only two good choices you have and not very good ones are carefirst and health net. And I know health net has dropped their maximum for the year which means more out of your pocket, so if I were you based on the list I would pick carefirst.

The difference between a plan and insurance is that the insurance will pay a portion of the bills, with a plan you pay it all. So with a plan you pay every month for it and they never pay out a dime. (Plans are legal scams that sound like really good insurance, until it come time to pay and you ask what will theins cover and you find out nothing... my 2 cents)

Janet Said:

Should kids be allowed to chew gum at school to promote dental health?

We Answered:

I would definitely say yes to that. I brush after every meal I eat, but in school I don't have time. Chewing gum helps get the food out and gives my breath a good smell. I would promote chewing gum in all schools (as long as nobody distracts anyone, of course).
