Is there a home treatment of natural antibiotics for dogs for kennel cough? We Answered:
With the rubitussin it should only last a few days. I do use lysol spray all around the house. They will sneeze when you first spray it.Manuel Said:
Dog health question: Anyone had a pet with similar symptoms? We Answered:
What are you feeding him? Poor quality dogfood weakens a dog's system to the point anything can jump on them and make them sick. How long have you had him? How old is he? Do you know enough about his ancestry to be sure spot on flea preventative would not be harmful to him? If not, I would NOT put any more on him.I've said it many times, but I'll say it again: Poor nutrition combined with pesticides that are either ingested or applied to dog can make them very, very ill. It is hard on their organs, and it can be fatal. Holistic vets are trained in both traditional (crisis) veterinary medicine, as well as nutrition oriented treatments, and that's why I recommend them.
Pet health care is becoming a multibillion dollar industry. That's right, INDUSTRY. It's a BUSINESS, because as much as we love our dogs, cats, horses and gerbils, the fact is, they are animals. And if the HMOs who let thousands of PEOPLE languish without proper treatment are not obliged to be ethical, why should a vet? I've seen big changes in the way animals are cared for in the nearly 50 years I've been dealing with veterinarians, and sad to say the changes are not good. Better techniques, medicines and treatments, and technology to determine exact nutritional needs do not replace the heart when it comes to caring for the body, whether it's human or animal, but that's what's happened, and we need both.
Hope the website below can help you out, but if it were my dog, I'd take him to a holistic vet, change his diet the highest quality available, and get rid of the pesticides.
Edit: I came back to call "dizzyg" for giving me a TD (and you did). This person apparently has a problem with admitting that nutrition is not emphasized in vet training, that traditional medicine is geared toward "fixing" things, rather than preventing them, or there are a LOT of unethical vets around these days. I've run into a LOT of people who feel the same way, and I've run into plenty of vets (young ones) that are in it for the money.
BTW, *I* have myasthenia gravis, and I was diagnosed by a doctor I was assigned to go to for a workers comp case. When I went to my HMO md, he couldn't tell if I had it or not. Hmm. I kept having symptoms, so I started doing research on how to help myself nutritionally. Turns out I needed something my ex FIL recommended to me years ago. What was it? Lecithin, manganese (not magnesium) and vitamin A. I started taking the amounts recommended (high but safe dose on the A) and guess what? My symptoms do not bother me unless I fail to take my MG vits. Laugh if you want, but if that's what the dog has, this is what will help.
This is by NO means ALL of the ways I've seen benefits in myself, my family members and my animals from lowering or eliminating exposure to pesticides and improving nutrition. There isn't space on here to do that. But, believe what you want, it's still a free country (or, it's supposed to be).
Edit: Nerve damage can be long lasting. It takes them a long time to regenerate. Here's a link to the "drooling" symptom on the website I first posted. I thought it was rather interesting. Just because most dogs are not affected by the ingredients in the "safer" flea preventatives, does not mean your dog isn't. http://www.web-dvm.net/organophosphateto…

does anyone know what a stroke or siezure may be like in small dogs? the symptoms? anything would help!!?We Answered:
sounds like seizure type activity-- cause can be varied.in young, small breeds, you worry about thier blood sugar level. If they don't eat often, it can drop and sometimes cause what you are describing. If you feel pup hasn't eaten well, or hasn't eaten in a while, you can rub a little Karo syrup on the gums to help increase the blood sugar.
Other wise, wait it out and call your vet first thing. Are there no emergency vets in the area? Does your vet have and after hours answering service or vet on call?
Good luck to you and your pup.

Are there symptoms of stomach cancer in dogs?We Answered:
I would think loss of appetite, sick to stomach, maybe bloody stool. My husband was diagnosed with stomach cancer earlier this year with no symptoms at all. Thankfully it was caught early.Jorge Said:
Dog Health Symptoms Adding Up?We Answered:
Well the age of you pup will affect the length of time to recovery. A great web site with these symptoms is http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/al…If you read in detail alot of this is occasionally linked to the thyroid issue. I do not think you are paranoid, no one knows your pup like you do and you sound like you are doing a great job!! Good luck with everything.

i need help with my dogs health? We Answered:
There is nothing to worry about if you already give her heartworm pills.Use a different bug repellent. Skin so-soft isn't that good at keeping bugs off.
The kind that is marketed towards hunters and fisherman is the best kind to get for your dog.
Where I'm from, its called "Deep Woods Off", but any other similar type will be good.
The higher percentage of "DEET the better.
