Emotional Health Issues

Martha Said:

Can emotional problems cause this level of health-issues?

We Answered:

Hi. The most important question i have for you is, have you had any blood tests done since you've had all these issues? A complete blood work up would be my first step if i were you. I was having a lot of the same issues you are having, and that is the first thing i did. I was able to find out what was wrong with me by a simple blood test ( and it wasn't Aids ). When you say you had 30% of the exams, do you mean blood tests??? I highly doubt that all these symptoms are just your imagination. Sometimes you have to keep going to doctors until you get an answer. If you only had 30% of the tests done, there's 70% left. You really have to be persistent with doctors, or they sometimes tend to blow you off. Trust me, i've been there. Nobody knows you better then you do. If you have a feeling that something's wrong, it probably is. Keep trying. Good luck, hope you find the answer, and feel better soon :-)

Lester Said:

do universitys do occupational health screenings on students when emotional issues arise?

We Answered:

It depends what course you are on. I am a student nurse & it's standard practice for us to have an occupational health check to assess our fitness to work. Occupational health are not there to prevent you from continuing with your course, they are there to help you continue. If there are any issues it is the role of Occ Health to see what adjustments or assistance can help you work. For instance we have a deaf girl on our course & Occ Health organised a lady to come & take noted for her in lectures. I myself have had depression in the past & Occ Health informed me at the start of the course about the counselling services available to me & stressed that if I ever felt 'wobbly' that they would do all they can to support me. You're worrying unnecessarily that the uni plan to kick you off. They are in fact being very responsible in referring you to Occ Health. Far better to let Occ health support you in staying on the course than trying to struggle on alone. If you try & struggle on alone you may well end up failing or quitting. Accept the offer of help.

Rodney Said:

My mother is 72 years old, has emotional health issues including depression...?

We Answered:

Maybe your brother and sister don't' want to care since she's living with you, and probably not doing their part in assisting, they figure ot let you worry about her. which is of course sad. It's hard, i know you love her, does she go to her doctor's appts. check ups?? if so do you take her?? maybe you can speak with your doctor about her concerns. could it be Alzheimer's?? I know vicodin and ambien are addictive drugs, i have a friend that was addicted to vicodin and a relative that takes both and take allot due to the pain and the prescription runs out before the next refill but she has bad arithis. She sounds like she needs to see a doctor/psychiatrist. But the battle for you maybe be to get her there. I hope things improve, but you may need to talk to a doctor/counselor and describe to them the scenario and then they can advise you on how to proceed. God bless.

Is it safe to talk about personal issues online?

We Answered:

Yes: The forum has your IP address, and from there they can deduce the rest with a bit of work...

We Answered:

Heah the good thing is you recognise all of this which is great. Once recognised you can learn to improve. Just write it down and try and change small things slowly. Make little wishes everyday keep recognising keep trying and the world will become your oyster. Good luck
