Great career choice!

School nurses are generally hired by the school district or sometimes the county (whoever runs the district). It is hard to tell you a salary, but generally if you search hospital nurses salaries in that area it is usually $1-2 per hour less. Benefits are generally decent-to-good, they usually coincide with teachers and administration benefits, since you all work for the same 'company'.
As for the taxes, it is very very rare that a nurses income is tax free. The only cases I know of is military nursing and those counties desperately in need of raising populations (none of which are on the east coast). Nurses make good wages though, you will be very happy with your chosen field!

salaries, rather obviously, are not tax free. No one's salary in America is tax free, including your pastor's.

NH and FL do not have state income taxes [as five other states also do not] -- and they make up for it by taxing other elements of your life more heavily. [There is no such thing as a free lunch.]

beyond that, you need more info than I can give -- the business is fragmented and benefit policies are set by individual school boards, not on a state or national basis.

Rather obviously, requirements differ by state [to get a license] and possibly by school district. [unless there is a state law controlling the minimum educational and license level required, less intense situations probably do not require a BSN in those states where RN does not require a BSN -- FL is an example of this.]

Why does news media distort important news?

We Answered:

--Health care needs reform. Some are afraid that income taxes will be increased. Some countries in Europe and Canada have free health care .Sure there it is not pefect but it will be improved .There are abuses. You have to wait hours at emergencies.Sure news media distort important news for political motives.
