Group Health Insurance For Individuals

Greg Said:

Can a condition make you ineligible for individual health insurance, yet accepted under group employer plans?

We Answered:

Yes, individual plans are harder to qualify for. Employer contracts with insurers generally require all employees to be accepted for coverage

Miguel Said:

Group health insurance and disability: Does group health coverage continue if I become disabled?

We Answered:

Usually not - you can keep it for up to 18 months after you've been terminated, through Cobra, but then you have to find something else to replace it with.

Donald Said:

Has anyone gotten group health insurance coverage through the National Congress for Employers?

We Answered:

Good question. If you need to ask, given what you said, the answer is going to be no.
Try to get reviews at a reputable consumer site.

Stacy Said:

Are dental hygienists offered group health insurance or do they always have to get their own?

We Answered:

Depends on whether you are an employee or an independent contractor. Most dentists hire hygienists as independent contractors which mean they have to get their own health insurance. The ADA might have some group health plans - check them out.

Reginald Said:

I have individual health insurance with no maternity coverage. Will I be covered immediately with group?

We Answered:

It is different for each insurance plan, your husband will just have to ask his new job how their insurance plan works. There usually are probation periods when starting a new job. If it takes longer than you want to wait you can be covered through M.A. for everything related to pregnancy, no matter what your situation is or how much your household income is. A friend of mine was covered through M.A. during her pregnancy and she was really suprised to find out there are no limits to who they will cover. It was something that I was worried about for the future when my husband is no longer in the military and we won't be covered through them anymore.
