Are you sure it's an HSA (High Deductible Health Insurance Saving Account)?
People get this confused with Medical Flex Spending accounts, offered as part of an employer's Section 125 plan.

If it's an HSA, you cannot take out the money for non-medical expenses without the standard retirement penalty. However, unlike the flex spending, the HSA rolls over from year to year. When you are 59.5 you can take the money for any reason penalty free.
