Health Facts For Kids
Ian Said:
What sports do you kids play, and how do they like them?We Answered:
I have an 11 year old daughter and a 9 year old son. They have played baseball in the spring for the last four years and loved it. Our community is offering fall ball this year, and my 9 year old decided to play.
They played basketball for the first time last winter, and my daughter loved it. She even went to a week long day camp this summer. My son has said he does not want to play basketball again this year.
I have a daughter turning two next month, and I think I am going to enroll her in a Mommy and Me gymnastics or trampoline class, mainly so she can play with other children her age as all of our activities seem to revolve around the older children.
We live in the country, and all three of my children (soon to be four) are outside regularly. They swim, ride dirt bikes and go carts, ride their bicycles, jump on the trampoline, climb trees, etc. They frequently participate in community activities such as track and field for children, etc. Even though we homeschool, we do P.E. once a week during the school year with our homeschool association.
Here are some that are available in my area, that your children could choose from:
Acrobatics, Ballet, Baseball, Basketball, Baton Twirling, Boxing, Cheerleading, Dance (besides ballet, there are many other styles), Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Horseback Riding/Equestrian, Karate, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Field, Wrestling
There are also activities such as the MotoCross (my son would love that!) and many others to choose from. A good way to let them try something out is to find a summer camp related to a sport they are interested in. Usually a week at a daycamp is long enough to let them see if they enjoy it and would want to pursue it further and join a team.
They can get plenty of excercise without being in organized sports, as well. I mentioned some of the activities my children are in above, and things they do around the house but we also do other games and activities-hop scotch, jump rope, leap frog, tug of war, obstacle course. We have a Nintendo Wii, as well, and the Wii Sports offers a workout, especially the Boxing!

can a lawsuit be brought against a news agency if they knowingly reported false*facts*causing health problems? We Answered:
Probably. But I have a feeling that it will be tough to out-lawyer Rupert.Sherry Said:
Health Care Coverage for kids while paying child support? We Answered:
I'm not going to address a lot of this, because stepfamily arrangements can be sooo tricky, especially when one parent is in a different state from the kids. What I do want to say is that you should dig a little deeper on this insurance thing, because I suspect that the kids *could* be covered on the stepfather's policy and that the ex is just yanking your boyfriend's chain. My husband has worked at several different jobs over the years, and has always, ALWAYS been able to include my daughter (his stepchild) on his health insurance policies. It's never been a problem to add her, and no one has ever made an issue of the fact that she's "only" a stepchild; she's always had the same benefits as his/our biological children. Just something to consider...Jeanette Said:
Jon and Kate Plus 8 or 18 Kids and Counting? We Answered:
Well, first of all you make some incorrect accusations here. First of all, how are they (the Duggars) raising their children to "believe nothing goes on in the outside world"? From what I can see, the children are not locked in the house-they live in the world, and see what goes on. What happens, though, is that they are not taught to ACCEPT some things that society should not accept. They do have views different from mine, but so do a lot of other people. It is not a reason to dislike them. They did not SET OUT to have 18 children, either. They set out to have as many as God blessed them with, whether that be 1 or 6 or 36. The mother looks healthy to me, as do all of the children. And, for the record, Nadya Suleman did not set out to have eight babies either-in fact, only six embryos were implanted, and two divided so there was no way for her to anticipated octuplets, and the likelihood of the six she had implanted all taking was not high either.
As for homeschooling, it is very easy to homeschool multiple children of varying ages. Homeschooling is nothing like a traditional classroom setting.
I have seen parts of shows from both families, and it is not an either/or for me. They are two different, but normal families. Their normal might not be the same as our normal, but it is their life. I think all of the families are doing what the rest of us do-raise our children the way we see fit, provide for them, etc. We just do it without cameras.

Conservatives - can you justify the SCHIP veto for me, taking these facts into account? We Answered:
I would veto it because I think if the government is going to use my tax dollars to hand out free healthcare, it should hand it out to ALL Americans. And no, I do not support Medicare and Medicaid. Can anyone use it? Then it's SOCIALIST.
