Would it be better to get a degree in Health Service Administration or Health Information Management?

We Answered:

If you have a degree - or any extra qualification - then you'll already be in advace of of the crowd when it comes to hunting for professions. My mate has a degree and he wasn't certain what direction to go with it, but he unearthed some great instruction on the website in the resource box below which helped him to settle that he wanted to be a lab assistant. There is plenty of assistance on the website regarding extra professions.

Are there jobs for Health Information Management?

We Answered:

Of course you will be able to find a job! Health Information Management is becoming a hot topic. If you want to find your job prospectus you should consider checking out online job boards. I recommend http://www.nursingemploymentfinder.com/. I have had many friends who work in the nursing field use this site to get connected with employers in their area. As far as the work environment goes, it really depends if the facility is using a paper or electronic filing system. So you will either be behind a computer or surrounded by filing cabinets or both.

P.S. Your compensation will be well worth it.

Alfredo Said:

what is the best minor to take when you major in health information management?

We Answered:

I have a philosophy about minors. I believe that anyone with a science based major will benefit by minoring in English. The ability to communicate well is important in any job. I majored in Computer Science, and throughout my career, I have noticed how my minor in English has given me an advantage over my colleagues.

If you REALLY want Computer Science in there, then my recommendation would be to double-minor in English and CS.

Which is better Health care administration or health information management?

We Answered:

I agree that health care administration and health information management are among good options for a career in the business side of health care. Health care administration is focused on the overall administration of the business of health care. Health information management is focused on management of health care using pertinent information; management of such information is vital to the success of health enterprises of substantial size. Because you plan to go on to get your masters, you might consider getting your bachelors in health care administration, and then specialize in some aspect of health information management for your masters. The masters degree is usually more specialized than the bachelors degree. I am not in the health care field, but I have experience advising higher management.
