Health Insurance Bc

Lena Said:

At retirement should one have BC/BS health insurance ($400.00 per month) to go with Medicare?

We Answered:

It really depends on your situation. For example - do you currently take a lot of medications? Do you have any chronic conditions such as COPD, hypertension that may require hospitalizations? Do you have a family history of cancer? You need to look at your whole health package and maybe speak to your doctor as to your risk factors for future illnesses. Also, does your doctor take Medicare patients? You have to look at what Medicare offers vs what BC/BS can offer you in terms of premiums and coverages and co-pays etc. There isn't any one answer to your question, you need to take into account everything and then make an informed decision. And the most important thing that I didn't mention earlier - can you afford $400 a month for BC/BS? Good luck with your decision.

June Said:

I have health insurance through BC/BS but I need to find a company that is less expensive. Where do I look?

We Answered:

You go to a local, independent agent, who can show you exactly which coverages you're giving up in exchange for cheaper insurance.

Health insurance, you really do get what you pay for. You could probably even stay with BCBS, if you're willing to take a $5,000 deductible, it will probably cut your premium in half, or even slightly more.

I have a cyst in my back, that I cannot afford to have removed. bc no health insurance.?

We Answered:

Could lead to a more serious infection. If you can't get it removed by a medical professional, try soaking a washcloth in a mixture of hot water and boric acid and laying that over the affected area for a half-hour or so every night. Could possibly help the contents of the cyst break down naturally and relieve some discomfort.

Private health insurance in BC, Canada?

We Answered:

Enrolling for medical coverage is mandatory for B.C. residents. It consists of 2 parts:
Medical Coverage:

Drug Coverage:
http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/insurance/ph…

Private health benefits are often covered by your employer, but can also be obtained from many companies. This extra health insurance covers things that may not be covered by your provincial plan (eg. dental, chiropractor, medical implements, prescription drugs, vision care, and more).
