Health Insurance No Waiting Period

Lucille Said:

Would this be considered Pre-Existing to a Health Insurance Co.?

We Answered:

He doesn't have a preexisting condition because he hasn't been diagnosed with anything yet. Even though a condition may exist he is not aware of it. that clause is designed to make a person disclose all of their medical costs before the provider takes the patient on. For example my cousin has a congenital heart problem. She has had surgery when she was an infant and will have to have more surgery when she gets older. She doesn't take medications but she has to see the heart specialist every year to montior her condition. She has to disclose that to the new insurance company if she needs a different provider. If she lies and says she doesn't have a pre-existing condition they can cease her coverage.

Louis Said:

I currently work for a company that pays a portion of my husband's health insurance premimum.

We Answered:

Well, if your husband has an employer that offers a group plan, you can switch over to their policy during open enrollment.

You're probably not going to have a pre-existing conditon issue if you buy a private policy. That's because either they'll flat out refuse to cover him, or they won't cover the pre-existing conditions, PERIOD.

That wait time, is only for a GROUP policy through an employer.

You need to get some quotes. I think when you see what the individual policies will cost, you'll find out that it's going to be less expensive, to pay for him, AND GET COVERAGE, through your employer's plan.

Marion Said:

Can I have my doctor bill my insurance once 60 period is over?

We Answered:

You can but if they do that would constitute Insurance Fraud.

Erica Said:

What's a good health insurance plan for a pre-exisitng condition?

We Answered:

First off, have you actually checked with the employer as to the length of the waiting period. State law may say they can impose a 1 year wait but not every company does.

As far as the plans you need to check to see if your current doctors accept either or both. Other than that, the PPO has more freedom while the HMO will have restrictions, including needing referrals to see a specialist and pre-authorization requirements.

Tina Said:

When applying for health insurance, if I have a condition that I am being treated for at present?

We Answered:

~~Yes it will count as preexisting. If you don't disclose and they find out later (which is easy because you usually have to sign a release for medical records), then you would be held liable for repayment.~~
