Health Insurance Coverage In Wisconsin For The Lap Band System?

We Answered:

Unfortunately if depends on your insurance companies policies. A good place to look is http://www.obesityhelp.com/. People post there insurance information (regarding weightloss) and you can look it up. However, you will still have to go threw an extensive approval process.

I was self Pay, so I was fortunately as I didn't have to deal with approval. My insurance basically told me NO WAY, NEVER, PEROID. I had to cash out my 401K, but I figured if I didn’t do something I wouldn’t be around for retirement anyway. However, I would pay it again in a heart beat.

I had the band put in on May 12, 2008. It was the best thing I have ever decided to do in my life. I'm down 67lbs. I went from a BMI of 57 to 49 after 4 months (3 months after surgery and 1 month before). I have had to stop taking my blood pressure meds completely. I have had to reduce my CPAP from 15 to 13 then to 11. I went from taking Percocet (OxyContin and Tylenol) for my knees to taking Advil. I even walked the “ Big Dam Bridge ” this weekend, where I live (sorry I didn’t name the thing) It’s a ½ a mile long walking trail 600 feet high over the Murray Lock and Dam. I would never have been able to do that before. Even if I never lost another pound, I would do it all over again, but I would be disappointed if I didn’t loose more weight. I have only one regret, I’m a “I wont do this until I have all the facts” kind of guy. It took me a year to get over my own fear and to get the money together, before I got the band. I regret wasting a year that I could have been losing weight.

Where will the $1,300.00 the state of Wisconsin contributes to each employees health care insurance go?

We Answered:

Judging by looking at some other industrial countries which have enacted this rubbish, we could probably expect our taxes to rise by a factor of 100% or greater

For example, If you forfeit 25% of your income to the govenment now, double that to 50%

Let's hope that we never have to find out about universal healthcare in the US

What are some affordable health insurance options for those with preexisting conditions, here in Wisconsin?

Can I put my 23 year old married daughter on my health insurance plan in wisconsin?

We Answered:

During your next open enrollment, you can add your daughter to your insurance, and pay the premium for her (you might be in for a shock at how much it's going to cost you to do this). You will not be able to drop her, until she DOES get a job with benefits, or NEXT year's open enrollment.

Her marital status is irrelevant. But you can't add her husband or her child/children to your policy. Only her.

So basically, instead of hubby paying $300 a month extra for her to be covered, or however much it is, you'll likely be paying $500 a month - maybe more - to have her covered under YOUR plan. Very generous of you.
