Do I need a referral to take my daughter to a pediatric cardiologist (Illinois health connect insurance)?

We Answered:

Your health insurance card should have a phone number for members to call customer service to inquire about such questions as this one. I would contact them and ask. Also, when you enrolled in your insurance the insurance company should have sent you a booklet about covered services and if you would need a referral for certain services. If there is no number on your card and you do not have a booklet whatever agency or person that issued this plan to you is who I would contact. Did you give your insurance information to your doctor so they can bill your insurance claims? They too should have some type of contact number on file to reach them. I would explain to your pediatrician that even though both her and another doctor listened to your childs heart you would like to refer her to a cardiologist to rule out any problem and give you peace of mind regarding this. If she doesnt give you a referral mention that you may consider switching doctors and if need be take her to another doctor willing to see you and give you a referral. If you find that you dont need a referral make an appt. with a cardiologist and take her in. It's your daughters health and a good portion of the time we as health care consumers have to be very proactive in obtaining what we feel is best for us. Best Wishes.

Health Insurance coverage at Sears in Illinois?

We Answered:

I don't work with them but I administered coverage for my prior employer and usually discussed best practices and such with our benefits broker. Unfortunately my experience has been that most emplooyer plans don't offer coverage for infertility treatments. If Sears has a flexible spending plan (FSA), this is money that you decide you'd like to put aside each year towards medical/dental expenses. For instance, your employer may cap your FSA allowance at $5000 per year, you'd receive the money on a visa card and could use it for medical expenses only such as prescriptions, co-pays, etc. I'd check with them to see whether one of the expenses you're allowed to use the funds for is infertility treatments. FYI, the $5000 would come out in equal increments over the 1 year period you're enrolled in the plan. Additionally, your employer doesn't decide what items are covered, this is generally decided by the government as FSA's are generally pre-tax monies. Check with your HR or benefits person and have them check this for you. Good luck!

If they are legally incapacitated, yes. But you need the judgement, not the petition.

nursing homes in illinois give health insurance to partime employes?

We Answered:

It depends on the nursing home and the position you will be working.

For example, if they are in dire need of a particular employee for a part time position, then to make the position more enticing they will offer insurance.

There are so many factors which play a role, so after being offered a position ask if they offer health insurance and if not, ask if they would consider adding it as part of your compensation package.

What are my best options for self-employed health insurance with maternity in Illinois?

We Answered:

Maternity is very expensive on an individual policy. The wait is usually 1 year, meaning the pregnancy can't begin until after a year has elapsed. Maternity is about $350 to $450 extra a month. But it is very worth it if there are any complications.
Probably BCBS is your best bet.
You can get a quote by going to www.bcbsil.com, just enter your zip and go from there.
You might consider a high deductible HSA plan too, but you would still need to add maternity to that plan.
