Low Income Health Insurance California

Carole Said:

No health insurance?

We Answered:

I don't know who told you that having a house disqualifies you. In CA and alot of other states, your home is exempt (not counted). Your problem as I see it is that you don't meet the disability requirements. In CA you either have to be a child or if you are an adult, you have to be totally disabled for at least 30 days AND meet the financial requirements in order to qualify for medi-cal. You don't say when your COBRA coverage ended, but usually the same carrier can offer you an individual conversion policy and your previous coverage will count towards any waiting period for pre-existing. (If the break in coverage hasn't been too long). Unfortunately, if they won't or don't offer that your only hope is to find an employer that offers health insurance.

Gail Said:

medical aid/assistance for low-income citizens of california, car accident back pain?

We Answered:

If the person that was driving the car was uninsured, but owns a house, you can go after their estate to compensate for your medical bills.

It takes a long time, you need to keep EVERY document that pertains to his condition and may need to end up getting an attorney.

As for the assistance, I don't know what to say.

Applying Health Insurance with High Blood Pressure?

We Answered:

If you can't get group health insurance, there is little hope of finding an individual policy. But find a local independent agent that can better answer your question.

You won't qualify for Medi-cal unless you are disabled for at least 30 days and have children under the age of 18.

Your best bet for medical care is to go to county based facilities who will base the cost on an ability to pay based on your income.

Contact Alameda County Hospital and they will be able to tell you what clinics are county based:
