Ben Said:

Is i tpossible to buy a gun with a history of mental health issues and past suicide attempts ?

We Answered:

No you will not be sold a gun and there is a reason why. You are unstable enough at that time so that a wise judgment is not present.

If you are suicidal at this time please get some help from a mental health professional or present yourself to the nearest emergency room. When you are in that state of mind your thinking is very construed and not very reliable.

Is it normal to feel angry about chronic pain or mental health issues?

We Answered:

You have every right to be angry.

But then again, you have every right to offer this pain up as an act of solidarity with your patients.

This is a right that not many people are capable of possessing. You know, one of my colleagues, he did not show any compassion towards anybody. He washed his hands after shaking with each of his patients as though even a hint of compassion would contaminate him.

Now, you have to choose not to be angry, dear nurse. Rather, to be a hero, each morning you get up in pain to face a difficult day.

What happens when help is sought for mental health issues?

We Answered:

Hey
All that you? Heres some sympathy!
Usually you either get put on some medication for depression ect, whic would probs be the main cause of most of the other problems (except stress which may cause the depression), and/or get hooked up with and NHS couselling/phschiatry service.
And if you ever feel like talking to someone impartial but experienced in such matters, email me at joey_hopelessromantic@hotmail.co.uk. I may only be year 10 but I'm aufully mature, and I'd like to help.
Hope that helped and look forward to possibly hearing from you!

Cassandra Said:

How come instances of mental health issues are becoming more prevalent?

We Answered:

i think it's always been the same number of people who have been afflicted with mental illness.

it's just that now people are starting to come out from the stigma that for so long doomed them to the dark corners of society. no longer do people have to suffer in silence for fear of being ostracized...society, at least the educated and informed members of society recognize that the brain is another organ of the body and often it gets sick.

and sickness requires treatment, not being relegated to the darkness to hide in shame.

i have no problem telling people i have biploar disorder, or that i got treatment for it. i am a walking, shouting poster child for mental health awareness and for the fair treatment of those afflicted with illness. i hope that by being as outspoken as i am, maybe others will see that there is no shame in it and seek treatment. i see no difference between mental illness and physical illness - i don't honestly understand how anyone else could.
