Ergh, as a harlequinist, this type of behaviour just annoys me. It seems some people want equal or superior rights in most regards unless they're being held accountable for something which could mean jail-time.

As a woman myself, I know first hand we can become just as ruthless and crazy as the rest of them. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned etc. etc.

They are rarely ever even spoken about. People just choose to ignore it. Sex is considered a taboo in the U.S. Remember, people only went ape$hit on the TSA after they could see our privates. We are a nation of prudes.

I have a hard time believing in the modern psychological techniques when I spent 3 years with psychiatrists and every type of drug and found no improvement until I read a book by a different psychologist which actually filled in some gaps in my understanding and now I am completely free of medications and work on my problems on my own.

Some person insisted I have Aspergers after reading my personal website. I looked up the symptoms and they didn't fit completely, and very much overlap social phobia. I'm sure one of the three doctors I've seen would've made that diagnoses if it were plausible?

It's actually been in the news for a while that our troops coming back haven't been able to get the mental care they need to function.

It's very sad, because of what they see that goes on over there. They see hate, violence, and God knows what else.

We think that mental health is quackery, that we should get over the most traumatic events ourselves, that we are selfish to even be thinking about ourselves.

This kind of thing needs to be addressed! It's hurting families that these guys are coming back and not getting the help they need!

I agree with you about it not just being a military thing. It's been hush-hush and on the back burner for so many years - ever heard of Rosemary Kennedy? She was "put away" for being an embarrassment to the Kennedy's (sibling of RFK & JFK).
The stigma of mental illness and depression in general hasn't changed, although it seems these things are more common.

I have suffered depression myself, and know many taking some sort of medication to treat it. It doesn't make us crazy, but it doesn't solve everything either.
