If it does then our prisons come to mind, being that we are selling them to corporations. If that is used as an example of their paradigm, then they might be trying to save money by any means. I admit that mathematics isn't one of my greatest interests but it's serious business. It might not be the change we wanted, but the world is changing. And in the end it's all about the money. So it comes down to what they think.

I don't think one should run a government in the same way as one would furnish a mansion. But what is there should be useful. In this way, they might save the dollar but they'll take down everything with it. Maybe that is being overdramatic, but everything I'm being told and learning about points to a lot more drama yet to come. I really wish I was born like 50 years from now. I feel kind of jipped.

My thoughts are that the Veteran's Administration is a bit underfunded. It is socialized medicine, so, although it is taking care of our veterans, there is a reluctance by some members of congress to fund it properly. But, they do a good job. My father is a veteran of three wars and he would not hesitate to use the VA. The VA should be funded properly, and if it was funded properly, it would continue to demonstrate that the government can, indeed run health care properly.

And, if you want to include Medicaire, consider that Medicaire runs on a much lower profit margin than private health care, but continues to operate efficiently. So with Medicaire and the VA, we have two medical systems that the government runs well.

oim, you mention one of my biggest problems with government takeover of health care - you have to buy it. What if I am sufficiently financially setup hat can afford to pay for any health care with cash? Why should I have to buy it - especially form a government that has never gotten anything right??? Why should I have to pay for care for fat people, drunks, junkies, smokers, tramps, baby factories or their bastards? I happen to like our current system and don't want anything to do with the government's brand.

Jean-Claude, name for me the ONE thing that the federal government took over that was run nearly as efficiently, nearly as successfully or nearly as competently as before the takeover. YOU CAN'T!! Everything the federal government touches sees skyrocketing costs as quality drops as fast as billy clinton's pants. I should trust MY health care to an entity with that kind of record? Not in this lifetime!

God no, I am American. Healthcare is only free for the politicos here. The rest of us are just trying not to get sick. Even the working middle class has terrible benefits and we pay a fortune for them.
