What is Occupational Health, and what are the functions of Occupational Health Services? We Answered:
if you're referring to Osaha.it is the government agency that enforces workplace safety.in some places it's just osha. There is also a place of that name that just gives suggestions to workplaces on how to better keep the employees in health and safety.(it's more scam than anything)money buys what money buys.

What´s the point with Occupational Health Service (Chemical Path. testing) for non-risk occupations? We Answered:
I think it is a VERY questionable proceedure, if the employees are or are made feel obliged to take such tests. I live in Sweden, and a friend of mine recently had this kind of testing when she was offered a new job. The employer told her that it was merely in her own interest, since it was a job with much responsibility and they wanted her to be sure that she was in good shape before she accepted it. She thought it over and agreed that she would want to know that. The employer was not given the results of the tests. Still, I don't like it at all, especially not when it is ordered (or offered) for people applying for a job in the company. But I think it's great if the company offers testing as a general service to all employees who want it (or all employees over 45-50), with no strings attached, no pressure whatsoever from the employer, and no follow-up from the employer. It's true that health care is almost "free" (that is, tax financed), but primary care institutions have their hands full with sick people, and few people check up their health if they don't have pressing symptoms. So if an employer offers it as an extra benefit for the employees, I think that it could be helpful.Troy Said:
has anyone had a similar experience with their health and mental health services? We Answered:
My Lord of the Meadows - Plants and all,This time I will play your game! (Well it's not really a game).
I've been very disappointed with the way my doctor has been treating me lately. I had an appointment yesterday and after talking to him for a few moments, I stood up and said "I don't expect to be treated like this when I come here for help. You're acting like there's nothing wrong with me and I am suffering and need your attention. I am going to report you to the AMA". Then I walked out.
He had the nerve to write in my chart that I had an aggressive outburst!
What the heck else would he call it? "She chatted a bit about not liking the way she was being treated". "She mentioned she was unhappy with her care". He's going to protect his donkey! And it WAS AN AGGRESSIVE OUTBURST!
Face the fact that many doctors are aloof and abrupt. They have dozens of patients to see everyday and if they don't speed through them they'll be in the office until midnight.
In the 4th paragraph you say, "2 years ago i was diagnosed with BPD personality disorder". In the 8th paragraph you say, " my psychiatrist said all the symptoms i have are basically as a result of my traumatic life experience and that i have no mental illness or psychosis."
Did the psychiatrist change his mind?
At this point, I realize you have had a terribly traumatic life. I know you're not getting the right kind of therapy. Have you learned, online, as much about your illnesses as you can and then learned about treatments for them. Have you tried online, self help therapy?
I know you're not taking any medication, I know you're dwelling on your past, I know you have no education, yet you want to have a computer job. Have you been online to see what kind of computer jobs there are and what you need to study to get one of them. Two of my daughters have computer jobs, with attending 6 figure salaries. One is in the software end, the other is in the hardware end. You have to have credentials before you are going to get a "computer job". No time like the present to get started!
You may very well be on your own with your treatment, so instead of asking lay people on Yahoo! Answers questions, why don't you use your time wisely and find out the information you want to know from Doctors and Medical Websites that have the correct information. WebMD.com is a good one, emedicine.com is another and there are many others.
You're list of complaints is endless, from your past and now. I've never heard you say one good thing about anything or anybody, except when you mentioned your strong, powerful friend today, or yesterday.
Your last paragraph is the perfect analogy of your thinking:
"i worry im on my own with this treatment and sh1t service and everybody else is getting the right, ideal help and support except me from their health services."
If you think that's true, I'm sure it must be! The whole world is out to get you, I'm afraid.

Ill Health Termination Procedure?We Answered:
i think it depends on individual contracts.my husband consulted the CAB about this - apparently after 6 months sick leave from work his company could remove him from his contract due to ill health making him unable to carry out the job he was employed for.
they had no need to offer alternative employment, or keep his job open for him unconditionally.
like i said, it depends on your individual circumstances - go to the CAB, they were so helpful and looked into every eventuality for us, they even have access to a solicitor for more in depth legal advice.

Question RE UK Disability Discrimination Act?We Answered:
it doesn't affect anything else.Sarah Said:
has anyone in the uk had the same or similar experiences with their GP & health - mental health services? We Answered:
I lived in Scotland for just over a year and had the same experience. I moved over from Sweden after a divorce, where I was in great psychiatric care for Tourette's and comorbidities (OCD, agoraphobia and anxiety, mostly).I arrived with my medical records and a lengthy letter from my Swedish doctor saying I needed to continue therapy as soon as possible, and listing my meds. I spent years trying different combinations of medications to find ones that worked without exacerbating other conditions, and was finally managing okay.
The first GP dismissed me without even looking at my records, after finding out I had been on a low dose of benzos (Xanax) regularly for over a year. I only took them as needed (before school or work), but he treated me like a junkie and said he wasn't going to prescribe anything, or recommend me for further care. Apparently they are only prescribed short term (like 2 weeks) or inpatient in the UK, and he felt if I was taking them long term, I must have addiction problems. I don't drink alcohol nor do drugs (I hate anything that makes my Tourette's worse) so this really offended me. I changed GPs, and experienced similar. He said the waiting list for mental health care was over a year, and he wasn't willing to put any new patients on it.
As a result, I had to suddenly go off the medications, and I was isolated with no therapy or medical help for Tourette's, which in my case is fairly disabling. I ended up quitting my job from anxiety, and couldn't get help for my problems anywhere. In the end, I had to move to another country, my experience in the UK was awful.
Unfortunately, mental health care in the UK is falling apart. You have to be seriously mad to get any real help, the doctors have too many patients, are overworked, and the system is running out of funding.
You aren't on your own, and I attribute the serious depression, drinking, and drug problems in the UK to the lack of proper mental health services. I knew so many people that could have had a fulfilling life with treatment for their illnesses and disorders, but were left to suffer alone with no medical guidance. It's really unfortunate, but I'm not sure it will get any better for you. You can try changing doctors again, but there's just not enough funding to get good care. The other option is what I did: move.

What area in working for the federal government can a major in Health Science/Public Health be?We Answered:
You can get a list of Health Services Administration jobs in the government at the source below, just use the search job tab.You can get a list of student or intern positions at
jobsearch.studentjobs.gov site (see sources) To search an entire occupation group enter only the first two digits ( try 06)
Salaries in the $87K or higher are mostly GS-13 equivalent or higher.
These are usually promotions for people who have at least one year specialized experience or equivalent at the next lower GS level.
Your best bet if your in college or fresh out of college is to come into the federal government through a intern program. If your position is in a critical field you can often get signing bonuses which you keep if you stand for a designated period and you spend your first years in training learning how to do your job. Some of the training may seem like BS and there a lot of government regulations which you will need to be aware which is covered in the training period.
Usually after the internship, you entitled to non-competitive promotion.
A Master degree or PhD can often offset the experience requirements and usually gets you started two to four level higher than if you come into the government with a BS. There are several factor you need to consider. If you consider the time you may spend getting your Master or Phd, and the fact that often the government provide training and educational opportunities to its employees and may even give you time off to attend school, the question may be not if you get a masters but do you get before or after you become a government employee.
You really do have to manage your career and be willing to relocation if you want to move up in the government.
