I am amazed that so many Americans are not aware about Obama’s healthcare plans. During the election, he campaigned for these changes stating that he felt it was unfair to have a system where insurance companies try to escape paying claims.
Remember, he was elected to bring in these changes, elected by the American people who want healthcare reform. And he discussed his plans in debates with McCain, and he still won the election.
First of all, too many people do not know that Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. His system is similar to that which works in Holland, Taiwain and Switzerland. It works there and private healthcare companies provide most the insurance to the people there.
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
FACT – insurance companies admit that they push up costs, buy politicians and do not pay out for many claims when they should.
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.

That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, the Netherlands, Cuba, Switzerland, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage. And no western European nation with universal healthcare has moved away from it.

Remember, I back my facts up with evidence. Those who say they are wrong tend not to. If they are wrong, e-mail me with proof and let me know.

health care is an issue because of the baby boomers trying to get a free ride in about 15 years this problem will take care of itself the fact is average family sizes are getting smaller and the average age of America is getting older it will take well over 25 years to pay for this plan and no government plan has ever worked without going broke medicaid medicare ss all broke. And just to put it in more perspective, when medicare was initiated there was 25 young Americans for every one person using it currently the number is 4 to1

We know what we need and we also know that any attempt to do this right will run into a right wing buzzsaw. Anything you might suggest that makes sense they call 'socialism'. That's the main problem with both of these plans....they suck up to the con artists of the 'health insurance' industry and kiss the @ss of the GOP. What we need is UNIVERSAL HEALTH INSURANCE paid for by federal taxes. Pure and simple. It won't 'cost more' because we're already paying for the major part of health insurance. If we folded all of the current federal and state programs into one, relieved employers from paying premiums and have everyone who works pay in we'd eliminate massive amounts of overhead. Part of the 'overhead' is 'profit' that goes to the current health insurance industry. Imagine...making money off off sick people...that in itself is sick. A single payer plan that includes the usual deductions and co-pays for a plan that can't be canceled if you lose your job, or have a pre-existing condition, or you're 'out of your area'. Doctors and hospitals will get paid on time and in full with none of the goofy paper work that the insurance mafia requires so they can refuse to pay because an i wasn't dotted. One HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN for all hands. The 'wingers will keep beating their gums, calling this HEALTH CARE...as if the 'government' will own the hospitals and put doctors on salary. Watch for this one...don't let them get away with it!

I priced individual health insurance (medical only; no dental) locally about 1 year ago. The premium charged for family coverage (a couple and 1+ children) was over $3,400...

That is $3,400 PER MONTH! Sorry to shout. But, that pricing is outrageous. The health insurance carrier is a well regarded one used by corporate group plans. The pricing within the plan is excellent. But, the premiums make you wonder if you’d be better off self insuring with some sort of catastrophe coverage.

For those who have lost their health insurance in unemployment, there is COBRA, which costs the former employee more than (s)he paid while an employee. But, if and when the person falls off COBRA after 18 mos, the price of individual health insurance is stratospheric. The pricing I quoted is real. I know people on this. It costs over $40,000 per year. For someone who is unemployed, that is a pretty large chunk of change, in addition to mortgage/escrow payments, and all of the other costs of daily life.

So, be happy you are employed and celebrate the fact you are on a group insurance plan, which allows the insurers to spread the costs over a large pool of insureds. And, remember that the employer typically picks up a big part of your health insurance premium.

You are not required to buy auto insurance but if you do not you will suffer the consequences later on. Car accident will make you wish you had auto insurance, car tag can be taken if no insurance, can suspend your drivers license for no car insurance. Don't know if this applies in all states but I know of several where it does. Also cannot purchase any vehicle through a car dealership without showing proof of insurance. Maybe you do not call that being forced but I do.*

If Americans are so up in arms, why don't they just reform the tort laws and leave a more regulated private heath care system for the middle class and rich, whilst at the same time expanding the VA System to take the poor, whilst also making sure every family doctor and hospital in the US System has a duty to take a percentage of poor patients. Medicare and other such schemes could also be left fairly much as they are now.

The US could also negotiate better deals with the Pharma Industry through collective bulk buying, possible through a Government backed Association of Private Hospitals, which would stand together in terms of purchasing power.
