You are using short term insurance in the wrong way.
It is not really meant to be renewed but rather as a bridge between more permanent employer-sponsored plans.
If you need to do this however, you may be better off signing up for a new policy with a new insurer that takes effect the day after the old one expires. That way you solve this problem.

JS, You should take a serious look at BlueCross/BlueShield's temporary policies. In my opinion, its the best short-term product in Florida for the money. You will have a couple of decisions to make, but they can be boiled down thusly: 1). 30, 60 or 90 day plan? 2). $500 deductible or $1000 deductible? That's about it.

Just keep in mind that prices are very reasonable because no temp policies will cover pre-existing conditions. On the plus side, because of that, they require no underwriting , so they can pretty much go into effect at midnight the day you submit it, pending a cursory review by BlueCross to make sure that there is no glaring reason to NOT insure you - i.e. you just got turned turn by them for permanent health insurance.

May I suggest to you Ameri Plan's discount benefits program. They do not have any restrictions on ongoing conditions and you can start saving immediately. There is a hospital advocacy program that assigns you a personal advocate to negotiate with doctors on your medical bills.
