14 years ago, I was a volunteer for CSV. They gave me / other volunteers some beer money, a T Shirt with a big orange hand print on the front and WMHD on the back, and some leaflets, and asked us to go to pubs in the evening and give out the information, and publicise the local mental health support groups. Hilarious night!!!! Never done anything as exciting as that to promote the day.

The Answer is C.

The WHO, assisted by the University of Wisconsin, published a report in December 2000 that stated the annual number of deaths per year attributed to climate change was 150,000.

In arriving at this figure, the researchers found that in the preceding 30 years there has been 4.5 million deaths caused by climate change, the figure of 150,000 being an average.

They also found that there had been approx 165 million cases of people having been affected by illness and disease as a result of climate change - an average of 5.5 million a year, a figure which has subsequently been revised to 10 million a year due to accelerated global warming.

The figures were taken from a 30 year period between 1970 and 1999, the median year being 1985. Effectively, the figures are 22 years out of date. With totals expected to double in 30 years it's probable that current figures are in the order of 250,000 deaths and 17.5 million illnesses a year.

I'm with you, I'll walk up a hill with my dogs whilst having a fag, laugh at the guys falling on their knees with mountain bikes over their shoulders on the same route. Getting home I'll have a pizza, when I drink my 4 pack, but will raise a quick glass to those that have died in search of "health"

this year 10th october 2010 the theme is 'mental health and long term illness. the need for continued and integrated care'.

sadly mental health still carries a lot of stigma with it which discourages people from seeking help. the more it is brought into the open the better we will all be and less afraid to seek help.
