A Medical Career
Floyd Said:
What type of medical career is right for me?We Answered:
Pediatrician and Psychiatrist would both be great careers and should allow you to make quite a bit more than 80K (which by the time you graduate might need to be more like 100K - inflation and all).I would suggest you start out as a biology major in college (you might even take some college level biology next year during your senior year - if your H.S. has any such type opportunities.
If you do well in biology and then in organic chemistry - then you are probably well suited for going on to medical school. If you don't do well - then the direct medical side might not be for you.
Lab tech is probably not as lucrative and is usually not as highly skilled or trained.
Now psychology and social work are good options - making 80K in social work with an MSW is possible but not for at least 5 years post MSW and only if you work in a well funded hospital (usually private).
To make 80K as a psychologist you will need a PHD or a PsyD - there are not as many psychologists working in hospitals.
