A degree in nursing as a pre-med major is a good choice as it will help with a job should you not gain admission to medical school and you will gain first-hand knowledge about the medical profession. The issue you may face, because a nursing degree is a technical and professional degree, is taking the prerequisite courses that are not a part of your nursing degree such as physics and additional chemistry courses. This may mean you spend another year in school to complete the required prerequisites for medical school. One way to help ease this demand on you will be taking biology, chemistry, physics, and calculus as AP course then hopefully scoring at least a 4 or better yet a 5 on the tests. Along with taking AP courses you should begin researching schools that have similar prerequisites to your nursing degree so that you are not taking many additional courses so that you can meet admission to medical school.
