Career In Health Field

Larry Said:

I want a career in the health field that pays well, what are some options?

We Answered:

Here some options in the medical field that take less time than med school, don't focus as much on past grades, and you can still make very good money in them:

1) Physicians Assistant (3 years of school after Bachelor's degree)

2) X-ray Technician (Can be obtained through a Bachelors degree and sometimes less)

3) Radiologist Tech. (Bachelor's Degree needed only)

4) Pharmacist (Bachelor's Degree Only)

5) Nurse Practitioner

I can tell you that while Psychology does not require that an individual go to medical school, it is still an extremely hard program. Plus, it can take a longer time to finish in order to obtain a Ph.D in Psychology to practice since you need a 4 year Bachelor's Degree, a 2 year Master's Degree, and 4-6 years on your Ph.D. Plus, it's not extremely medical.

Good luck!

What are some career options for passion with babies? In the health field.?

We Answered:

You might want to consider a position in infant day care.
Or...work as a medical assistant in a pediatrician's office.

There are few Hospital positions in the Nursery that do not require a nursing degree.

Remember that working in a career with babies means that you have to have a passion with the very ill babies who may die...not just the cute healthy ones.

Turning 50 next yr and want to start 3rd career in Health field. No experience but willing to go back to...?

We Answered:

I'm 22, I'm a registered radiologic technologist. Its a GREAT career-- for any age! I went to a private hospital college, low cost and took me 2 years straight through summer and all. My clinical training was included in that during the week. Homework load was light and very manageable. My hospital even offered a job as a student technologist to help earn money and gain experience. We had some 45+ students in years previous. Good luck, its great money and less than 3 years of school!

Tony Said:

What is the biggest challenge with getting a career in a health field?

We Answered:

What health related job are you applying for? If you've never been in health care before, you could always make up an answer like...."my greatest challenge is inexperience, but I hope to make up for my inexperience with hard work and dedication" blah blah blah... I've always heard you should find a way to turn the question around so that you're focusing on your strengths instead of your weaknesses.
