i think more jobs can be offered as a medical assistant since you can work and many other places.

Would a career as a Medical Assistant be good for a mom?

We Answered:

You will need to very carefully research the area in which you live to see what the job vacancy rate is. MA jobs can be very hard to find. Why? Because profit schools, vo-schools, and community colleges are turning out literally of hundreds of MAs every few months. In addition, just about anyone can do the job a MA does: LVN, RN, PA, NP, as well as on-site trained people (no license is needed to be a MA). Another factor is it is entry level so the tuition fees can readily outstrip any gains in the salary. There is no place to move up as well (except teaching) as any other med field requires a license--so more schooling.

Once you are aware of the pitfalls, it is possible to find a good job--it just may take some effort as well as getting some experience first.
Be aware though, that medicine is 24/7 and a good 9-5 job may also be hard to find. Many clinics & doc's offices are expanding their night hours and are open some weekends to generate patient population & income. Many times, certain holidays are also expected it the place is open. So you just need to do some careful reserach to be sure this job fits your expectations.
