I am a certified medical coder, but currently practice as a dental assistant. It depends on you. They both pay about the same. I prefer assisting because coding bored me. I was a medical biller for about a year. I didn't have to have any special training at all, I just had to type a certain number of words per minute. The job was fun and the days went by very fast.I worked at a clinic in my city. I started out at $9.50/hr. Good luck!
