Not even our own politicians are perfect. What did you major college before you left?? If Accounting is your passion and that's what you feel for then go for it. You can make a lot of money if you are devoted to it. It's like that with any job. Medical is booming too but more in the nursing field which is in high demand. In my opinion, I would do the accounting. If you have some credits even for business I would just stick by this choice and don't you let that dream go. Keep your head up. GOOD LUCK!!

I think nursing is the largest field that you have direct impact on helping people. If you wanted to work in the lab and do behind the scenes help of patients you could do that too. If you didn't want to spend tons of years in school you could be a surgical tech/assistant, a certified clinical laboratory scientist, radiology programs are good where you can do ultrasounds and x rays with patients, they make pretty good money too.

So: radiology, laboratory, surgical tech, physical therapist, occupational therapist are just a couple that come to mind.

Job shadowing. If you are unsure which way to turn in this troubled economy I would take a brief inexpensive course as a CNA. That career is a stepping stone to so many other positions in the medical field and you will always have something to fall back on. You can also work part time and vacations anywhere and most facilities will work around your schedule.

As for careers the job shadowing is the best option for you. Perhaps volunteer at a hospital and do different jobs to see what interests you. The volunteer coordinators have excellent connections through the hospitals and can hook you up.

in the mean time get your basic course work done and something will just come to you.

Remember there is never a wrong choice when it comes to education. Take all you can get.

Have you thought about a medical assistant. There is no waiting where I live. The class is only 10 mo. but you certainly learn a lot. Even though I'm a nurse, I took the course because it teaches everything you don't learn in nursing school. Like lab work, phlebotomy, culturing. disease, they even show you how to get a respiration rate off a cardiac strip, and lots more. Of course you have studies like anatomy and such. Look into it, I thought it would be boring, but it isn't;t at all, I really enjoyed it. Hope this helps. Good luck.
