Emergency Medical Careers

Allan Said:

Which colleges in the New York area offer Emergency Medicine or Emergency Medical Technology majors?

We Answered:

below site may help you

I have a few questions about some medical careers...?

We Answered:

Hi there--

Go to ihec.org--it can give you the information you are looking for.

Anesthesiologists and radiologists are physicians which means medical school, internship, residency, etc....about 8-12 years AFTER college. A vet is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and that's even more intensive & longer education than a medical doctor. An EMT can be trained through a hospital or local community college. Incomes of all vary on where they work; where they live, etc. The doctors (both human & animal) are licensed to practice medicine; the EMT I believe is certified and registered based on the state they live in.

Which job has the best emergency medical training, rather than hospital training?

We Answered:

pararescue is spec ops
out of the conventional forces, army medics have the greatest focus on emergency medicine.
but like ive said several times before: if you want experience, you gotta go active. doing your job 1 weekend a month isnt going to get you the experience or knowledge you hear about military medics having. as an active duty medic ina good infantry unit, when you first get there you'll do nothing but taking classes from your medical provider and having the senior medics run you through trauma lanes for atleast 5 hours a day for atleast 2 months...well that and shitty details because thats what the new guy does. even if you spent every minute at reserve/ng drill doing that, it would still take you 12.5 months to learn what an active duty medic learns in just 2 months...but seeing as most of drill isnt spent doing that, in reality it would take you about 4-8 years.
you cant always have the best of both worlds, and when you're choosing between active/weekend warrior you are choosing between being a competant professional...and being able to stay at home and do college courses.
think any competent surgeon got that way by doing his job only 2 days a month?

Edit: thx for reminding me through ur lack of knowledge on the subject mrs: all medics/corpsmen get their emtb called an emt1 in some states. It's national registry so it can be transfered to ANY state. If u go to the SOCM course which all medics for ussocom go to u can challenge the emt paramedic. I heard usacapoc still sends it's medics there too

Do Emergency Medical Technicians need to take a polygraph test?

We Answered:

Yes, you will be expected to take a poly since you will be working for the county. That's status quo.
