Healthcare Career Training

Carolyn Said:

I'm in my early 40's and looking for a career change. I have healthcare experience but would like to change.

We Answered:

Most of these follow my guidelines and you will make money type of business are scams, how they make there money is getting you to send them money to learn their secret to big money, it maybe better to start your own MLM business with an establish company, but what I read from you is you want another job not your own business opportunity

Good Luck

Does a pharmacy technician have transferable skills?

We Answered:

Not really, sorry--its a niche

Hazel Said:

Taking a job will cut healthcare benefits from the state. Can I ever get out of this TRAP?

We Answered:

If you already have medical coverage and do not let is lapse for longer than 63 days the pre-existing wait/clause will not affect you. A health company can only impose a 6 month or 12 month wait for treatment if you have let your coverage lapse. I would suggest you go to a large company so the health plan will be a big one so your claims don't jump the rates off the page to someone. Either way you will have to wait out the time and get enrolled in benefits and get going. Consider the new career training if you want to change your job. Get back in the work pool and ride it out!

Best 1-2 year career training? Healthcare or Tech?

We Answered:

This really depends on the type of area that you're most likely wanting to work in. These are all in the diagnostic imaging field, and I would attempt to give you a little bit of information about each so that you're able to make an informed decision about which one you're most wanting to do:

Radiology Tech -- these people are responsible for providing various types of tests such as x-rays, barium swallows, MRI's, PET scans, CT Scans, and so on, and are often responsible for also positioning patients on the table, or around the cameras as necessary. These individuals often have to wear radiation tickets that will tell people on how much radiation they have been exposed to. Also, this role will usually need to develop the films as well. Radiology Techs are NOT responsible for telling the patient or interpreting ANYTHING on the films. This is the responsibility of the radiologist and also of the doctor to tell the patient which condition that they may have.

Diagnostic Ultrasound -- this is a position that is similar to that of the radiology tech, in that you usually work with one patient at a time, and often work in a dimly lit environment. Ultrasound techs do not have to wear a radiation exposure tag, as they are not usually exposed. Some type of things that ultrasounds can work with are for: disorders, cancers, infections, pregnancy etc.

Cardiac Sonography -- this could be either two types. One can be for ultrasound of the heart, and the other one may be the ECG as well. These both deal with the functioning of the heart, and are in the same format of that as the ultrasound techs.

All of these are really lucrative fields, and take approximately 2-4 years to complete, and also they require that you sit a licencing test in order to get your licence.

I hope that this helps you!

Healthcare Career please advise?

We Answered:

YES!! I work as a Receptionist/Registrar in an Emergency Room for a hospital. Get online to your local hospital and click on employment opportunities, see what comes up. Hospital jobs have excellent benefits and offer child care for their employees. Good luck to you.
