Look under Hospital administration dept., best to go to human resources to a hospital nearby, they will be able to give you more detailed info. For starters, you may be on a lower level and then can scale up. There are scores of jobs these days in administration, bigger the hospital, more the no.
from managers, to marketing field to Directors, assistant directors, sometimes they have one for each dept., You can try in the pharmaceutical or medical equipment fields, Research hospital as well, depends on your interest.
Or even in group clinics, they need Managers to keep the place together.

I am not entirely sure if Health Information Management and Healthcare Management are the same thing, is the area of focus more on coding, medical records, HIPPA, statistics, etc. or is it more on Managerial type things?

If it is the first, then if your school is accredited you can sit for the RHIT certification and with that you can code inpatient hospital encounters, work in Medical records, do compliance. etc. Lots of possibilities.


If its more like the second one, I would imagine you could be a clinic manager or something similar

possibly start with volunteering at health fairs or your local homeless shelter. on the paid front, you could ask your local doctor or dentist about assisting with any operational projects needs they might have. initially, these might not seems substantial mba type experience, but trust me that it will give you an up and close look at what works and what does not. stay focus and just dont think that because you are an mba candidate that you must start at the top.
