No--- I took a vocational class on this (I also have a Bachelors degree) and there aren't too many jobs for this. Actually, they want nurses to do the billing and coding since nurses are much more experienced in the medical field. And it makes total sense!! You may be one of the lucky ones who can find employment in this field BUT I don't think it pays very well.I think you should go to Nursing School or even a therapist of any kind. There are tons of jobs out there.. And in Nursing you can make so much money---they are wanted everywhere 24 hours a day. I really wished that I wanted to be a nurse.
Good luck and do some research in the 'help wanted' ads before you go to school.

There are jobs in both these fields. According to the Department of Labor, the need for medical transcriptionists will grow faster than the average for other occupations. Both careers are in the stable health care industry. No matter what state the economy is in, people will still get sick and need to see doctors. So there are jobs in both areas.One thing that may help you decide which career path to choose-- MTs work from home more often than coders. Some coders do work from home but it is not as common as it is for MTs. And since your Aunt has a friend who works from home, she can probably refer you to her employer. Some training programs offer job placement assistance. They will help you find a job after graduation. So if your Aunt's friend is unavailable at that time, that is another resource.

it would be a good career for some one entering the work force -- but it is usually a dead end position!!!
