Beatrice Said:

What jobs could you have with a medical administration degree?

We Answered:

if you say medical degree? you are hired!! so do not worry, you will be employed the rest of your life.

Jo Said:

What is the better job, medical billing and coding or healthcare administration?

We Answered:

Administration would be a better route because it opens up more. Medical billing is very specific - that degree will allow you to be a medical biller. However, healthcare administration will allow you to work in healthcare, but gain administrative or business experience that will allow you to transfer fields or move up the corporate ladder. Billing will get you a job that you will ahve for life without advancement. Administration will probably be harder to find a job initially, but after that you could move up high.

Paula Said:

Medical office administration, Medical office managment, Health information Managment... What's the diffrence?

We Answered:

If your goal is to manage a clinic, you would probably be better off with either Medical office admin or medical office management. Health Info Management is more coding, statistics, billing, etc. People who want to do high level coding tend to go for that degree.

As for the other 2, they sound very similar and if the curriculum are the same, I would just go for the program that seems to be less expensive and works for your schedule.

I would definitely take some business classes, not sure if you degree covers that or not, but it would be a good idea to have taken some.

Virginia Said:

Exactly what kinds of jobs can I apply for with a degree in Medical Administration?

We Answered:

I've been working in health care for 15+ years, and have never heard of this degree or certificate. Hard to tell without looking at the curriculum for this degree, but I suspect this may be geared to medical office adminstration, i.e. running a doctor's office, practice or clinic. Therefore, look for jobs for clinic manager or medical office manager. But frankly, without experience, it seems highly unlikely this degree alone will open doors for you.

Kathy Said:

I am majoring in Medical Office Administration. What job titles and pay salary should I expect?

We Answered:

If you are going for administrative types of positions (Dept Secreatary, Clerical, etc) they are considered entry level. if you are looking Administration (Manager, Supervisors, Leads, Directors), the pay can be lucrative, but usually takes year to build up the experience necessary to be eligible for that kind of position. Supervisors make $35-50K, Managers $40-60K, Directors, $50-80K, above that are Administrators (CEO, CFO, COO, Executive Directors) and is upward of $70/80K DOE.
