What medical careers don't require use of stethoscopes?

We Answered:

I teach medical assisting and medical billing and coding. I am also hard of hearing.

If you want you can focus on front office medical assisting as long as you can hear okay on the phone. Or if you prefer you can go into medical billing and coding. Billing usually pays more than front office assisting. Coding generally pays the most but can be somewhat difficult unless you have the knack.

If you really want to do back office medical assisting keep in mind that many offices now use the bp machines and all you have to do is push the button. Your employer may need to make reasonable accommodations for you if you are hard of hearing and this is the only part of the job you struggle with. Or you can serve as a back office MA in an office where you are not required to take vitals at all.

You can also study to be a pharmacy tech. I don't know much about their pay though.
