Medical Assistant Class

Charlotte Said:

Please help me prepare a practice business letter for my medical assistant class?

We Answered:

Make up an address to use in your letter for the attorney and the medical facility.

Not sure what questions that you would want to ask before preparing the letter. But here's a quick example of what I would write.

Attorney Name
His Address
City, State, Zip

Dear Attorney Ford,

Your client Mrs. Smith has not been attending her scheduled visits. I am bringing this to your attention with hopes that you can speak with her and let her know that if she continues to miss her appointments then I will not be able to help her. Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions or concerns.

Respectfully Yours,

Doctor's Name
Medical Facility Name
Address
Phone Number

Good Luck, Hope this Helps.

What can i look forward to doing in a medical assistant class?

We Answered:

I hope you got a minute to read this because I have a lot to tell you. I graduated from medical assisting school a few years ago and will tell you want I learned about. Medical assisting is not very hard and if you can catch on to things quickly then you will be fine. The biggest thing to worry about is mostly hands-on stuff. I hope you like needles and blood because you will be dealing with a lot of that. I don't know about your school but at mine we would draw and poke each other so that you can learn on each other. There will be some bad draws and some people who can't hit the vein but don't make them feel bad about if you can. Getting a "Hematoma" fancy word for bruise is one of the worst things to watch out for, they hurt like hell. You will and should learn to do lots of tests like urinalysis, pregnancy tests, and blood sugar tests. These are the most common test that are performed in the medical office frequently. Treat school like a job and do your best, perform at your highest to give yourself the best chances after graduation. The hardest thing will be the blood draws, everyone is scared, everyone is new at it and non of your classmate will be a pro at it. It will take you some time to become comfortable but you must know that you will then you will be teaching others by that time. Volunteering before you graduate will give you a head start and you will have some experience to put down, most places are hiring those that have 1 to 2 years experience. If you know another language highlight that when you go applying for jobs. Now externship, I actually liked it very much! We had drug reps by the tons and you will learn more about them, come by at lunch time and bring us great food. They usually come by all most everyday and you will start to look for them, I know I did. I don't know how your school will do it but we had to wear our school uniforms to extern everyday, which I did not like at all. Let the patients know that your new and they will treat you kindly, I met some really nice people. On extern height confused me and still does to this day, weight is another one that can confuse you. I liked doing blood pressures the best, probably because I was pretty good at it. Get a good stethescope so you can hear even when people are talking around you. Make sure your school is CAAHEP accredited school! Your going to also need white shoes but maybe your school is different on the aspect. Also don't go to a expensive school or trade school if you can, go to the cheapest school possible. If you can find somewhere you can study medical office assisting as well, knowing front and back office will make you more marketable. I think that is all but I know i'm missing something, so take care and I hope you enjoy school! I forgot to mention that you will also be doing lots of EKGs which are a ton of fun but when you get in the office it can be uncomfortable. Because the patient has to remove everything "up top" so you will see boobs and hairy chests so be ready for that.

I need to interview a medical assistant for my class?

We Answered:

I'm a nurse and hire medical assistants all the time for my husband's practice. I also am on a board of a technical school who has a medical assistant program. Perhaps I can help you?

Veronica Said:

i need help with my homework... I just started my medical assistant class yesterday?

We Answered:

If I were you, I would go to WebMD and look up uremia. You can also google the word uremia. These two avenues should give you some good ideas on how to phrase the word. Good luck.

Travis Said:

Im looking into taking a Medical Assistant class, online. Know anyone who has done this before?

We Answered:

It depends on where you are planning to work, and what your goals are for the job.

In many cities, where there are several technical schools,as well as community college programs which produce MAs there are more MA graduates per year than available positions. The graduates from those classes have hands-on instruction, which for a medical office would be a much better credential than a correspondence course. For example in my city there are over 22 MA schools, and over 700 too many MA grads for the advertised positions every year. It would be hard to compete in that market.

However, if you are in an underserved area, where there are no MA training programs, and they need MAs, you might do OK with that course.

Discuss It!
