Medical Assistant University

Jacob Said:

i want to start going to the university for medical assistant.?

We Answered:

Any career in medicine is always a good choice. People will always get sick and need care and also the elderly are living longer too, which means that there will always be a need for people in the medical fields. Although it may be difficult, I think it will be worth it. You will always find work!
Hope this eases your worries

Irma Said:

majoring in medical assistant?

We Answered:

Medical assistants in Santa Ana, CA (who can find a job in a very over populated job market) make an annual salary between $23,000 and $40,000. Those at the higher end of the scale usually have a great amount of experience and multiple tasks in the facility.

Most people do not major in medical assisting, they take a shorter certificate program. Santa Ana College offers both a certificate program and an associates degree program. The information provided by Santa Ana College indicates that in the associates program, they are training people for many different jobs, such as billing, front office (receptionist), and to work as a unit or admitting clerk in other health care facilities.

Before you start a program like this, I would suggest you find out what the market is in your area for medical assistants. Understand that moving to a better market is not always possible in the medical assistant field, as the other areas may well be as full or even fuller of medical assistants.

An example is San Antonio, TX which has 20 medical assistant training programs, and cannot find positions for all graduates at this time. The current salaries in San ANtonio are significantly lower than Santa Ana with a range from $16,500 to $28,500.

Before you spend the time to get an associates as a medical assistant, look into possible LPN/LVN programs which pay better and usually require an associates degree or less.

Ethel Said:

Would you pay $13,000 for a Medical Assistant program?

We Answered:

Do not pay that $13,000 for that program. That is not eeven a degree program. Look for other options in getting an education. For $13,000 you may conside going to a degree program a be a nurse or get a degree in another medical area, making way more money than a medical assistant and have move up possibilities.

Casey Said:

How can I write an effective medical assistant resume with limited experience?

We Answered:

First thing,
I would not say that your experience is limited you have a lot of great points about you that employers would like.
You have worked in the same place for ten years, this shows loyalty and dicipline.
you performed the necessary skills that are needed to run a clinic. It entails a lot more than you are giving yourself credit for.
Many of the skills you possess are ones that go across the board for all medical assistant working in a facility, so I think you should focus more on your positive strengths and not what you dont have.
Also Injections and venipunctures are skills that many facilities will be willing to train on if you are willing to learn. They are not huge skills to tell the truth about them. I went to nursing school for four years and we probably only spent one week on performing each of those skills. Because it is the type of thing you perfect on the job.
If the employer is looking for that skill and you make it to the interview and you are willing to learn them, make that known to the employer. Definitely do not let that stop you though.
Good Luck

3. Don't proposition and/or flash the medical center's patients.
