Medical Billing And Coding Certification

Medical Billing and Coding Certification?

We Answered:

Hey Jenn,

I know exactly which online medical billing certification course you should take but as a professional medical biller, coder and business owner there are a few things you should be aware of and you should ask yourself before you enroll in any course.

Are you aware that there is a difference between Medical Billing and Medical Coding? That being said,
Which are you really trying to become certified in?
What are your goals after completing whichever course you choose (get a job or start your own business)?
Are you aware that both professions are hard to break into? While you have the knowledge to do either job most employees still will not consider you for employment until you have up to 2 years of hands on experience.
The cost of either course varies depending on how the courses are put together and the time to complete them also differs. For medical billing you can complete a course in a matter of weeks while coding could take you up to 2 years (depending on the course and the designation it could be as long as 4 years).

I am not trying to paint a bleak picture for you but I want to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into before you enter this profession.

Well I wish you the best and here is the course that I suggest everyone take that wants to become a Nationally Certified Medical Billing Professional (CMBP) http://urlfreeze.com/medbill/L-12bc/

I need certification nationwide for medical billing & coding?

We Answered:

You have a couple of options - although neither are required to work in the field the certification can offer additional leverage when looking for work.

Medical billing/coding certification questions.?

We Answered:

Hi, Google "AHIMA" and that will give you answers on their certification requirements. Also Google "CPC exam" and that will give you some good info.

Yes, the certifications are expensive! Plus, they require continuing ed hours to renew your certification.

You will not be able to pass the exams w/o proper education and training. You can't just pick up a study guide w/o any background in the field and pass the tests.

I hope this helps.

medical billing coding certification programs nortern california?

We Answered:

I wrote the program. That is, I wrote a medical billing computer program that has been in use 9 years by a major rehab company on the East coast.

So, to your question...

What they will teach you about is ICD-9 codes and CPT code, and you know what? You don't care. You are not the one doing the services, you are the one doing the billing. What you are more worried about is the data entry, and insurance verification.

That said, take any of them, they will not matter except that you can put it on your resume.

Most of the stuff the classes teach you the practitioner is responsible for. They assign the ICD-9 codes, you don't. They tell you the CPT codes they did, you cannot assign them.

Take any one you want. They will all get you the job, and that is what you are looking for.

Is a certification in Medical Billing and Coding from NHA enough to gain employment?

We Answered:

I've never heard of C.C.B.S.. Most places I know of require CCS or RHIT certifications. RHIT requires an accredited associate's degree, and CCS generally requires years of experience.
Not all places require this though, it just depends on where you want to work. They probably just don't want to hire a beginner right now, even though you have schooling. Keep trying, and good luck!

Massachusetts medical billing and coding certification test?

We Answered:

I took my Billing and Coding Certification through NHA and it was pretty easy. I completed all the book work in about 2 months and then took the test. I completed all 100 questions in about 30 minutes and scored an 83%. :) If you are taking it through NHA, you should have a study guide. It is most definitely helpful, if not I suggest ordering one for a few bucks. Also, I have my study guide if you would like it. Good luck!
