Are there any Nationally Accredited Medical Billing and Coding Schools that I can take "All" online?

We Answered:

Your best bet is to go to your local community, technical or vocational school. They are less expensive than the online private schools and most of them offer online classes.

This field has become over saturated with new grads, so getting a job is tough after graduating can be hard, so owing as little as possible afterwards at least softens the blow of not finding a job.

If possible, try to find a medical job now, before you graduate, something like front desk, medical records, billing or data entry. Having that medical experience will give you an advantage when you graduate.

Also, I am not sure why you put "certification" in quotes, there are programs that give you a certificate after completion, but you are by no means a certified coder. For that you have to sit for a nationally recognized test.

Medical Coding and Billing schools in Rhode Island?

We Answered:

FIRST, go to your local community college and see what programs they offer. See who recruits from the community college for what sorts of work.

Billing & coding has become heavily advertised, now the field is glutted just as Obummercare is destroying medical practices. Half the private medical offices, doctors offices, private clinics in the US have been sold or put up for sale or slated to close since February. Definitely a declining market for billing & coding. Also, it is routine clerical work with no real future, no advancement possibilities, and everything is changing under Obummercare, so whatever you learn will likely be obsolete within a few years, and you will need to retrain all over again.

1. Billing & coding is a dead end.
2. Private schools for this sort of thing are overpriced.
3. See what else is available from your community college.
4. Always check the schools Placement Office to see who recruits there for what.

What are the Best Medical Billing & Coding Schools in Atlanta?

We Answered:

Most of these programs teach the same basic curriculum, so I think your best and safest bet is to just go to your local community, technical or vocational school. It will be less expensive and since it is an actual "brick and mortar" school, you don't have to worry about getting ripped off.

Just a heads up though, this field is over saturated with new grads with no experience. Many find that finding that first job is hard without experience. But if you are truly interested in this field, don't let that stop you. After you graduate, look for a job in medical records, billing, front desk or data entry. Gain medical experience and become more familiar with ICD 9, CPT and reimbursement. Then leverage your experience for a coding job.
