You do not say where you live so here is a list for all over the US. Just pick one at a reputable college and you will be ok. The length for the class is not long if you want to take a certificate course but if you want a degree that will take a minimum of 2 years just like any other degree. Financial aid is available at about all colleges and is not hard to find out about. ?

I really want to warn you about doing this, because it is VERY hard to find a job doing billing or coding straight out of school. I went to a community college for this and it took me 2.5 years to find a job doing mecial coding. I even found a message board for coders where many of them were complaining about not being able to find a job either. There were jobs available, but they all required experience! So I worked at a low paying receptionist job at a doctors office for that 2.5 years. If you really wanna do it, just be aware that it will not be easy to break into the field. I have heard that careerstep.com is a good choice if you decide to do it. they have a lot of info on their site.

Steph- Courses in medical billing training take a few months to complete. You can take them online but you have to be careful about who you sign up with. There are alot of scams out there. To work at home in medical billing you would have to start a medical billing business. That can be difficult to do because there is so much competition from big medical billing companies. Medical billing courses can cost $700 and up.If you choose it for a career and not work from home, which is the other alternative but wouldn't solve your problem you would be called a medical billing specialist. Classes specifically in Maryland that are not online would be on campus and take time to complete. Know the risks and dangers. Hope this helps! Nurse Kindheart
