Do an online search for medical billing and look for franchise/turnkey opportunities - they are likely to provide everything you need for a share of the profits. Or you could go work for the competition for a year or two learn everything you can.

You get clients the old fashioned way. compile a list of physicians and dentists and go visit their office managers. Join community organzations that Physicians and Dentists are likely to belong to - "network".

No business is easy to start, easy to get clients, or easy to keep profitable. But it can be very rewarding on many different levels. Good luck.

I went through Meditec.com and loved it. Billing is pretty easy to learn. Coding takes a little more time. MT was the hardest but I like it the best.

One of the best ways to find out if medical billing courses are the right thing for you is to contact any local medical billing companies- the large ones that doctors hire. Ask some of the employees. They will also be current on whats' going on in the medical billing field. You want to do this before you even think about signing up. You're right to thoroughly research this first. Plus you want to know your money is not wasted and that you will actually like the work,. If you can;t find any of these companies in your area, there may not be a medical specialist job or work for you to do. Starting up a medical billing business at home yourself would be very competitive. It can be done but you would want a lot of job experience first. Nurse Kindheart

No, not any more. You must take a class as they want you to be certified. Do a google search for medical billing classes in your area to find where you can take the class, I think some place like ITT Tech offers them. Good Luck!
