Medical Career Colleges

Dave Said:

Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Career Colleges of America (CCA)?

We Answered:

You need to ask if that school is accredited. If not, you will not be able to sit for the National Registry. This means you threw your money away and have to go thru another school that is accredited. If it is accredited you should not have a problem getting a job as long as you pass the board exam. No one cares where you went to school, just that you are Registered.

Wendy Said:

What shall I do about my subject choice for a Medical career? What do medical colleges look for?

We Answered:

Relax. Take physics in college. Physics is relevant in medicine in various ways. Physiology is much easier to understand with a background in physics.

And be sure to spell check before turning in your *college* applications.

Jill Said:

What are good medical colleges on the east coast I should consider going to after high school?

We Answered:

Before you can go to medical school, you must first earn a bachelor's degree from a 4 year college or university. You can go to any school you choose and major in whatever you like as long as you maintain a GPA above 3.5 and take the 12 "pre-med" courses: two years of chemistry, one year each of biology, physics, calculus and English. You will also have to take the MCAT.

Then you will go to medical school. But make sure that you apply to many schools as admission is extremely competitive. Of the top college students who have chosen the medical profession, medical schools only accept 5 - 10%.

Kim Said:

What are the best colleges for someone persuing a medical career?

We Answered:

Any 4-year college or university can prepare you for medical school, but the more prestigious and high-ranked the school is, the easier it will be to get into a top medical school. Major in anything and take the premed classes.

Information on Career Colleges for Medical Assisting?

We Answered:

Please steer clear of any of those online, for-profit schools such as everest, penn foster, stratford career, capella, university of phoenix, walden and others as they are merely out to 'make a profit': http://www.capellauniversitysucks.us

http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

There aren't supposed to be too many jobs for the medical assistant (or medical biller or coder) despite what those private $$ schools proclaim. The 'job placement' is really just a gimmick (between us and the wall ;)to get the student to sign up with the program as they don't really have many more leads than the local newspaper or internet job site.

Here is a website where MA graduates have posted about having difficulty finding work: http://www.indeed.com and can click 'forums' and then type into search.

If really still wanting training, please consider the more affordable county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non-credit course) as long as it's accredited within the industry.
